Hi,

We're thinking of upgrading our original Kinect for Windows sensors later this year to Kinect One for XBox with the USB adapter, and I have some questions.

Does the Kinect One for XBox require Windows 8? All our computers are currently running with Windows 7, so I was wondering if I need to figure in the cost for OS upgrades.

Will I have to add USB 3.0 adapters to the other computers? Currently, only my main computer has USB 3.0 controller cards and the other computers have USB 2.0.

Did I read that we can now use up to four Kinect One XBox/Kinect 2 Windows devices or did I imagine that?

Thanks for any answers. For the time being, we're going to stick with Kinect for Windows until we finish the Brudders music video but we'll probably switch before we begin our next 'iPi Mocap' film. (Yes, Alisa and I actually working on this project again and determined to finish it as quickly as possible. More news on that later.) :)

Hi, Dennis

The requirements for using Kinect 2 / Kinect for XBOX One on PC are summarized on this page:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/kinectforwindows/purchase/sensor_setup.aspx
There is also a link to download Kinect Verifier tool for checking your config.

To answer your questions:
Yes, you need Windows 8 and USB 3.0.
Yes, up to 4 Kinects are supported in Pro edition.

Excellent, and thanks for the fast reply!

This info helps me think about and plan for how we'll create our next project. :)
