We are planning do add Lightwave formats support in 2.0.
Thanks for the heads up. Even though I have a good, reasonably efficient iPi DMC to LW workflow already in place, news of direct Lightwave support obviously interests me too.
The key issue I've run into is that the LW Joints system is not consistent with industry standards. I'm still hoping that Newtek will correct this 'design' as it unnecessarily complicates my workflow. For example, Lightwave expects weightmaps to be offset from a given joint to its child joint, so after exporting an FBX from Lightwave I find I have to 'correct' my rigs in Maya and then re-export my FBX so I can use it with other programs and get the motion data back into Lightwave again. (Alternatively, a user can re-rig a second version of his character incorrectly in Lightwave (but correctly for other applications) and export that as FBX--FWIW, I just find this step quicker to do in Maya.) Technically, I only need to do this 'rig-correction' step once per character but if there are several characters involved and any rig or model changes made during production, it starts to becomes a hassle. Hopefully this issue will get resolved so you guys will be able to treat to iPi Studio LW rigs the same as rigs from other applications.
Anyway, if you would like more info, please feel free to contact me privately.
