Thanks Greenlaw, I didn't know that there was a release schedule.

Can you be so kind as to paste the link for this schedule below my post, so I can bookmark it?

I'd be very grateful.

I have to say I'm very disappointed at the delay, head-tracking to me is so much more important than any of the other improvements :(

I understand, everybody's been waiting for it. But Q3 really isn't that far off. In the meantime, I think the New Actor Appearances in the first release is a HUGE deal, especially for those who may not have 'average' body proportions.

For, me personally, I'm very excited about the improved tracking. 1.0's tracking has worked well for me so far but it can always be better. I wonder if the improvement is in internal processing only or if we are also getting additional tools for correcting errors. Hmm.

I'm also interested in how well the Asus 'Kinect' clone works with iPi 2.0. The biggest issue with the Microsoft device is its low 30 fps framerate, which results in motion blur artifacts. The Asus, however, is capable of 60 fps! The trade off is lower resolution (320 x 240) but it's been stated earlier that higher framerate is more important than resolution. Of course, no need to wait since this feature was added in the most recent build for 1.0. :)

Regarding your monitor, can you change the refresh rate? In some cases, this can make the whining go away.

Ah good tip but sadly no dice.
First investment for the new financial year will be sorting this noisy power supply out..

Thanks for the info Greenlaw. Looks like I'll be upgrading to Standard by Q3 then. Will that be around September?

Hi,

I am waiting for the v.2 to be out only then to buy it. I want to hear the feedbacks first from you all experient users. I am working on a 3d short and been looking at a mocap system to save me month to no end animation work. When it says it will track hands and head in comparison to the v.1, what exactly will capture? Fingers? Facial motion? Or just general hand and head movements up down left right?
Among other mocap systems, ipisoft is the most affordable one.

I'm guessing 2.0 will be track head and wrist rotations--it's already been stated that fingers are not tracked. What 2.0 includes are poseable fingers in the rig but the volume data generated from the PS3 Eye and Kinect data simply isn't high enough for tracking them. I don't know if you will be allowed to pose the fingers in iPi DMC 2.0.

That said, you would most likely want to do your hand animations in a 3D program anyway. It's really not that difficult--for the most part you can set up your key hand poses and copy/paste them as necessary, and only keyframe special motions where you need them (like when handling a prop for example.) Many 3D programs have some form of a pose library that makes this easy.

As for face capture, that's a whole other thing. I can see where they might offer it in the future but I would be very surprised if it appears in 2.0.

I see what you mean. Thank you for explaining it. I think for what I need, v.1 is good enough, looking forward to see v.2 out.
I managed to fix that problem by the way, link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_-gf79ntiw
Thank you Greenlaw, appreciated mate.

We are not working on face capture for v.2.0. Theoretically, we may work on it in more distant future.

That would be really nice if iPi could develop such system for facial capture.
Something like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61uwy0S1NHE&feature=results_main&playnext=1&list=PL4AC26BC590F452C5
I'm downloading the trial to see if is worth it.

Thanks Michael for the theoretical hope ;)
