Hello, I just put together a rather nice computer a few weeks ago. I will post the specs below. When I install and run the ipisoft recorder I get very messed up results. The depth sensor seems to scramble the image making it useless in tracking. I can see this in the recorder window. when switching to rgb the picture shows fine. Mind you this is a brand new computer with 1 kinect. My crummy laptop can run the recorder fine. Even shows my second camera (although i/o buffer overflows instantly after starting recording with 2 kinects) Any idea on what I'm doing wrong? Blow I have some information posted that might help.

Hi

Most probable cause of such distorted image is some USB problem. Specifically, PrimeSense drivers (used with OpenNI) have compatibiity issues with some USB controllers. Try to connect the Kinect to different USB ports, in back and in front panel of your PC. If it does not help, switch to Microsoft Kinect SDK. It has better compatibility and general quality, so we recommend to use it instead of OpenNI for recording with Kinect.

Switching over to the Microsoft Kinect SDK seems to have fixed the problem and both cameras not only work, but drop fewer frames then before while recording. During preview before recording the dropped frames are higher then while recording but that is not an issue. Thank you very much.
