Curious.
What's the word on v2.0 release?

2.0 is not officially out yet but you can try the beta for free is you want to. IMO, the beta has been pretty good so far and iPi Soft has been quick to respond to bug reports. I think they intend to release it very soon.

Here's what's new at the moment:

In general, Recorder has some nice new features, like a built-in player, and a converter for old data (2.0 uses a new .ipivideo format.) The player lets you view motion data with background filtered out to help you decide if you need to reshoot. Because the background is processed at the file creation level, the result is much more compact than before.

I haven't had a chance to fully use Studio yet but here's what I know so far: At a glance it doesn't look that different but the current beta does feature a new actor model with more editable features. The variety of body shapes you can set allows more people to use the system with improved accuracy. Calibration and Tracking seems more accurate. I think it's a little faster but some users have reported that it's a little slower--but it is beta so I'm sure iPi Soft is still optimizing the code for different OS's and hardware. I understand they're still tweaking the interface.

The new rig has fingers. The system doesn't track fingers of course but you're supposed to be able pose them. I'm hoping they eventually add a user definable pose library for things like hand shapes but I think they will be busy enough trying to get more important features online (tracking for head, wrist, props, and multiple actors) for remainder of this year.

It seems pretty stable for a beta, which is always a good sign.

Anyway, that's about as far as I got so not much else to report yet. I'm pretty exciting about using it though and especially looking forward to the Q3-Q4 features.

Wow! Is it the 11th already? Yeah, I believe that was their tentative release date. I'm guessing they don't feel it's quite ready for 'final' yet. From reading the bug reports in these forums, it sounds like a few users have issues with older OS's (XP, Vista,), but it also sounds like iPi is fixing that now.

If you're interested, for time being you can use the beta for free, and help them get it ready for release. :)

Yeah, been playing with the beta.
But was waiting on main release before I got serious. Still considering a new system so no major hurry. Think my main wait is going to be for head and 2 person options.

Wish they would show more examples of what results they are getting.
Been focusing on PS3 Eye camera setup instead of the Kinect everyone else seems to be using. Want as much detail and capture fast pace movements as best as possible.

Not to mention that you can get 4-6 Sony PS3 Eye cameras for less then 1 Kinect.
