Hi everyone.
I am about to purchase two kinects now. I got a little confused about the difference between Kinect for PC and Kinect for XBOX. The official IPI site links to the XBOX kinect at Amazon, so that should be fine. HOWEVER, since it is for Xbox, is there anything else I should purchase?... I mean like cables or adapters of some kind??...

Thanks for your help!

Both Kinect for XBOX and Kinect for Windows are equally supported by iPi Recorder. Kinect for Windows is more expensive. Some pros and contras are listed at the very end of this wiki article:

Regardless of which Kinect model you decide to purchase, you will need USB extension cables. See the following article for details:

No special equipment is required for XBOX sensor.

Here is Amazon link for Kinect for Windows, if you need:

You can find full list of resellers on the Microsoft site:

Thanks Vmaslov !!!!
I really appreciate your kind help.

Just one last question... I was just reading somewhere that the latest version of Kinect does not have an extra USB connector for the pc, since it is used for the power supply (or something like that).
Is this correct?
If so,... is the USB providing the power for the kinect?

Thanks again.

Both Kinect for XBOX and Kinect for Windows have exactly the same connections: 1 USB cable to connect to a host (computer or XBOX) and 1 power cable to connect to AC/DC adapter for power supply. Some power is provided through USB cable, but it is not enough for normal operation of the device. So connecting to power outlet is required.
