Which is best to work with 6 ps eyes at 60fps?
To invest in a SSD disk or just use a ramdisk instead? Any thoughts?

Video records for 6 cameras have quite a large sizes. With default compression options it's about 0.75Gb/min for 6 PS Eyes @ 60fps. So with RAM drive it may be required to move the record to HDD after each shot to free up space for a next record.
Anyway, if you already have enough memory for RAM drive, you can just start recording with it. And then, if not satisfied, go for SSD.

Otherwise, I'll definetly invest in the ssd.

If I use 6 pseye cameras at maximum resolution, which output files I'll be dealing with? Something like 1GB for every 60 seconds of captured video?

I bought the Corsair Force 120GB SSD a couple of years ago from New Egg for about $230. As an iPi Recorder dedicated drive, this has worked out perfectly for me. My intention was that, if the drive filled up during a shoot, I would offload the existing data to a regular hard disk, but as it turned out I've never even come close to filling this drive up. After a shoot, I move all the recorded data to my regular 'work' storage drive. FYI, this specific model is no longer available but nowadays you should be able to find something cheaper that's probably faster too.

If you don't want to spend that much money, you can probably go with a smaller SSD drive: 40 - 60 GB. You can actually record a lot of data in this range (especially if you're using iPi DMC 2.0) and if you find you need more space for recording just offload to a regular hard disk.

Before purchasing an SSD, be sure check the specs and read user comments about the drive. Some of really cheap SSD drives may not be as fast as advertised.

See my previous post in this topic - it's about 0.75Gb/min. You can play with compression options to reduce file size. Be careful not to decrease the image quality below reasonable level.

I've found the Corsair Force 60GB at very reasonable price. It also got some positive reviews.
Great to hear that it works smoothly with IPI DMC(which is really the only reason why I'm getting one).

That's cool! I hope it works out well for you too. My own purchase was based on recommendation by another iPi DMC user who uses a 40GB or 60GB model with six PS3 Eye Cameras. :)

All the high write rates claimed are due to compression (like text files, etc., which compress easily) - which is very misleading.

I doubt very much that the ipi files will compress well - so you are interested in the un-compressed write rate in the benchmarks.

I bought a Crucial M4 SSD and have been happy with it, but I don't use it for ipi as my RAID is fast enough.
