Hey all, quick question

I have measured my character (1.6 meters) and entered his height into the actor specifications in Mocap Studio, but when I go to my scene, the character provided is much smaller than my actor in the scene. So my first thought was to just scale him up until he fit the actor. Is this the correct way of going about this? Or will scaling the height up mess with my calibration/scene settings?

Let me know your thoughts, thank you!

Hi

Adjusting the model's height to match a video is the proper way to get successful tracking.
However, when there is a big difference between actual actor height and the value you set for tracking, that usually means you have not scale the scene properly after the calibration. I.e. camera heights in the scene file / calibration project are also far from their actual values.

Okay I suppose it's possible that the scene was not scaled and measured properly. If so, will there be long term consequences regarding the data we collected using the method of manually scaling the character up to the actor's height? Will be sure to recheck the camera heights and the calibration project we set.

Only slight difference in scale can be compensated by changing actor model's height.
Setting unnatural model heights will not work.
The best way to solve this issue in you case is the following:
  1. Re-run calibration
  2. Set correct scale (ensuring that all cameras have correct height over floor)
  3. Save the calibration project
  4. Load the new calibration data into your action project, using Load Scene tab (on Scene tab)
