As I already mentioned, you need a fast video card for running our software. Any existing CPU is still very slow compared to top gaming-class video cards. Example:
CPU of your HP z800 system: 8 cores, 16 threads.
GeForce GTX 480 GPU: 480 cores, 15360 threads.
All notebook video cards are much slower then desktop video cards for obvious thermal constraints reason.
You should also understand that Quadro cards are slow. Quadro cards are expensive and this can make an impression that Quadro is fast. However, with an NVIDIA Quadro card, you are paying for image quality, not for computing power. NVIDIA certifies Quadro card drivers for use with legacy OpenGL applications like AutoCAD, 3D MAX and similar, this is very complex and very expensive process, but required to ensure that every little triangle in your AutoCAD model is rendered correctly. The GPU in a Quadro is usually a cut-down GPU from low-end GeForce video card.
For example, you mentioned NVIDIA Quadro 3700M (
http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_qu ... _m_us.html), this is pretty good and fast Quadro card, it has 128 cores. But GTX 480 (the latest top gaming-class video card from NVIDIA) has 480 cores - almost 4 times more, and runs at higher clock speed.
For use with our software, a gaming-class video card (e.g. GeForce series) is more optimal. Our software does not require high-quality rendering or highly reliable computations. If one or two pixels in a video frame gets processed incorrectly, it does not affect resulting animation.
By the way, what is the tracking speed at your HP z800 system? For comparison, tracking speed on a Core2 Duo 3.8 GHz (overclocked CPU) + GeForce GTX 285 system is about 1.7 seconds per frame in latest version (on a high-FPS video; it can be a bit lower on low-FPS video). We'll soon have GTX 480 in our lab and I will post benchmark results for GTX 480.
