Yes, I uninstalled the original MiJ program and it seems the bypass download archive doesn't contain the "drivers" folder, so I had to back track, but yes, if you have the original program still installed I am sure that is all you need to do.

After I put the drivers folder in the bypass folder group, I just uninstalled the original MiJ program and it still works, just saying.

For some reason it does throw an error pop up sometimes on start up, but I just click continue and it works fine.

Still working on getting windows 10. I didn't get the free upgrade when the "window" was open but now I need it. Windows 10 Home should do it, right? Pro I probably don't need unless there's something vital there that I do.

Also, had a talk with an animator I work with. He says that the laptops probably won't have the same problem I had when plugging the Kinect V2 into the USB 3.0 ports of the monster PC. They already have the 3.0 cards installed. I hope that's true because right now @ 8.1, they do work. They had better still work when I upgrade. Stay tuned... and thanks again everyone for talking about this with me. Unfortunately I'm not too windows savvy. I'm not a complete dunce but I generally do everything day to day on macs.

As far as I know and want to achieve with MiJ (DS3 tool)
At the start of my problems before they began, I had already paired with a couple of controllers. I had 3 working and Mij did that job. Was trying to get additional Move controllers when Mij didn't load, I tinkered around too much and never found a way to pair again until I tried windows 10 and the pairing was quick and easy without need for Mij. Just you, USB cable, and a supported BT dongle with native driver installed. The pairing otherwise happens entirely in ipisoft recorder. I therefore no longer plan to use Mij. The process was too easy with windows 10 and I'm confident that will fix this problem once I do. Mij is shady to begin with. It works if it works but the potential work arounds feel hacky and awkward. I love ipisoft because they rock at making updates that make the interface better. In Mij case, I think they did a good thing and if an OS upgrade makes that a reality, I'm with ipisoft.

Yes, you will be better off with Win 10 anyway, Home version should be fine for iPi, and the future will require it for anything new coming out, programs, games, etc.

BUT.. still if you for some reason need more than 4 Moves on one computer, (mostly for Pro version of iPi with more than 2 actors and more than 6 PS Eyes connected to one machine), you will still need to use the DS3 Tool work around we are stating.

Even though the laptops may have USB 3.0 controllers, that doesn't necessarily mean the Kinect V2 will work, but it is a better chance it will yes, just have to see when get that far I guess.

In response to Snapz....
I don't know what changed between when all of my Move controllers paired in the past, but back then, I could pair as many as 7 Move controllers to a single BT dongle. Just in case BT traffic was too much, I used to pair my Move controllers on multiple BT dongles. If Mij is out and ipisoft recorder works similarly to Mij for the max #, which I'd say is 9; 3 actors; 3 heads and 6 wrists....
Pair 5x controllers to one BT dongle.
Pair 4x controllers to another BT dongle.

I never recorded 3 actors, but I did pair 9 controllers once in this way (see attached).
I sincerely hope that a similar work through works in present day ipisoft recorder. 7 Move controllers is the max for a PS3. No game on that console asks for more but no game I know tests for more than 7 Move controllers (barely know any that ask for more than 2 players). The double BT dongle, pair some with "BT-A" and some with "BT-B" dongle method has worked for me. I hope I does again:/

If I remember right, I might have even had 3 BT dongles to reduce even more potential traffic; 3 dongles; 3 actors; 3 Move controllers assigned to each BT dongle per actor.

This is how I'm sure I did it:

Insert BT-1
Pair 3x Move controllers
remove the BT dongle.

Insert BT-2
Pair 3x Move controllers
remove the BT dongle.

Insert BT-3
Pair 3x Move controllers
remove the BT dongle.

Plug in ALL BT dongles
Activate ALL Move controllers
boom:)

Yeah, I thought it was at least 6 Moves per dongle I read somewhere, but you say 9, so good to know, even though I only need 4 Moves at once.

If using distributed recording, yes, 5 on one recorder and 4 on the other seems doable.

On Win 10, it says you can not have 2 dongles plugged into the same machine, even if different models, it will only recognize 1 of them, so MiJ is still needed.

But you say 9 connected to one dongle, or was this using more than 1 dongle to support 3 actors on one Win 8 machine, would be good to know if is the same on Win 10, if and when I need that.

Oh ok, I see your revised post now, not sure it will react the same on Win 10, but keep us posted please.

Windows 10 say wut?
Well, that little bit of info is disconcerting:/. I own 2x BT dongles and more than 4 Move controllers. Let me try this soon to answer this question. Yikes if you're right:/
Mij is how I used to do it, but if Mij is not an option, and since it requires a work around to activate it properly as I've recently learned, ipisoft hopefully has a better idea than I do. I wouldn't have thought an OS would restrict the quantity of hardware and drivers. One driver per dongle but you can't use several at once? That's-a-no-good....unless if you plan to multi-machine record, in which case you might need as many as 3 Pcs to get 3 actors. That would be a mild bummer to me since I only own 2:/

I am guessing that image is of your Win 8 laptop?

Well, I just tried using 2 dongles of the same model Asus and 1 asus and 1 IOGear and everytime I unplugged the dongle and replugged it, Win 10 tried to reload the native drivers, which was the same issue with MiJ, if you unplugged the adapter, I would have to use the DS3 Tool to repair them again on replugging, if left plugged into the same port, they stayed paired though.

Not trying to rain on your parade, just stating what I just tested, let us know if works for you though please.

If you can get 6 Moves to connect through 1 dongle, then all you really need for 3 actors using PS Eyes and up to 10 cams on one machine, I just don't have 6 to try it on Win 10, but if you wanted to use 3 more for the head, then 9 would have to connect through the same 1 dongle to not use distributed recording, or if don't you would need the MiJ work around.

I haven't had time to try this again yet. Just wondering if my plug-pair-unplug method would be sound if I used 3 different compatible models of BT dongles which were not the same model. That way, each BT would have its own unique driver. Haven't physically done any of this yet. I Think that I have 6 Move controllers at work but I have to dig through my bag to know for sure. The others are at home which I'll bring in tomorrow.

I don't believe so on Win 10 OS, when I tested it, it didn't work anyway, I had to use the MiJ work around then it worked fine.

That was just for 4 Moves, 2 on each dongle, and both dongles were ASUS 211 2.0 and also, 1 Asus USB 2.0 and 1 IOGear USB 3.0 worked fine, but the IOGear had to be the Win 10 dongle, MiJ didn't allow the IOGear to be seen.

Without MiJ, Win 10 will only allow 1 BT dongle to be initialized at one time, so I don't think unplugging and replugging will make a difference, it will just cause a re-pair to be needed before it will read the signal :/ so it won't retain the previous paired data and can't have both plugged in at the same time to pair them, won't happen without MiJ.

From what I experienced anyway, you can try it on your own too of course, but if use MiJ the dongles have to be compatible with it, older model dongles, those Trendnet ones should work like before though.

If you are recording using 2 laptops anyway you would need distributed recording, so different machine, split pairing is fine.
