I only have 5x Move controllers with me today at the office. Tomorrow I'll bring in the other important 4 for a total of 9. 5 of these to a single problem works fine with my Trendnet 107UB. I purchased an Asus 400 BT to try with that one and the same good result. All pair fine. Now, what you can't do is pair with BOTH dongles separately as you said Snapz. I tried my plug-pair-remove theory but if you try to pair some Move controllers with one BT and a few with another BT you lose whatever pairing or driver works with the first pairing. So, while you can pair more than 4 Moves (see attached), I suspect you can go up to 7 total based on my experience trying in the past through MiJ. If I want 9; 3 Moves per actor, 3 actors, I don't think ipisoft recorder is gonna cut it unless you can distribute record on multiple PCs and pair Moves independently per PC. As far as I can tell, unless Better Ds3 can do this multi-dongle pairing method with ipisoft recorder or multiple pcs can pair controllers separately during distributed recording, im out of ideas:/

just read your confidence in distributed recording. I hope that works. one PC just wont do them all. In the past through Mij, I never had to re-plug Move controllers to pair once pairing happened once. I did the BT-A and BT-B method in Mij days and this method used to work all through a single PC. Now....I hope you're right. still slowly acquiring W10 which is a must for pairing.

File comment: pairing in ipisoft recorder comes up good whether it's one BT or the other BT. Can't do both at same time with one PC

File comment: I yanked the BT out. But then I plugged it back in and pairing worked fine with same BT

I don't know if you saw, but a server bypass link was provided for MiJ to work again right? Link to download and instructions to make it work are listed in this thread further back.

I didn't know if you were completely off Win 8 on all machines yet, so your previous multi dongle approach would still work with only the MiJ work around I would imagine for one machine.

But, if you are switching all to Win 10, then yes, unfortunately you can only use one dongle on windows and 1 dongle with MiJ and pair as many as possible to each dongle I guess, what that total number would be on each I don't know, but if you can get 5 and 4 on a single machine, that would cover 3 actors and 3 controllers, just not sure that's possible on most laptops due to port limitations.

I wouldn't use a head controller with PS Eyes, but for good head tracking I can see where they would be needed for Kinects.

I wasn't aware one laptop could handle more than 6 PS Eyes, and dual dongles for same port reason, but maybe there are ones that can, or a hub work around that will handle them, I don't know.

Good luck, I hope it all works out in the end for you :)

working on getting out of 8.1 yes. MiJ just doesn't work. or load traditionally and I think I've only learned complex ways to get Mij to load. The auto-driver insertion combined with ipisoft recorder in Win10 works without any need for anything else. My plan is to pair one set of Moves with one Win10 machine and the other set with another Win10 machine. Without Win10, I can't pair anything. Every work around I've seen makes Mij complicated.

as far as cameras...
they're all 2.0 compatible without any power required. I generally record @ 320x240 to allow as many cameras as possible to record. one of the laptops has 8GB of Ram in OS 8.1. Safely, at 320x240 (which is crap, but enough crap actually works well) I would choose to go no higher than 6 cameras per machine. Would prefer to do fewer to guarantee constant frame rate, so to be safe, I'd say 4-5 cameras for my one laptop. Never heard of a limit:/ I was considering using the monster PC to handle like 8 cameras, but if there are limits, that's a new lesson for me:/

God I hate updates to OS. Sometimes they gum everything up. I hope I don't get gummed. A lot of talk back and forth here. Hope it's helping everyone to read this. If we didn't talk about it publicly, who would? I won't be in Win10 country by tomorrow I don't think. Working on it. Would love to share a multi machine recording if I could just get the motion controllers in action. Also want to see if my Kinect V2s still work even though they don't on the monster PC. I have hunch they will, but so much testing. argh. Just need everything to work like a champ:)

Well, like I said, the server bypass download for MiJ works just the way it used to, you just have to add the old MiJ programs drivers folder to the group in the archive, it's very easy, but you would still be port limited on one laptop I guess, so distributed is your only hope for laptops.

The tower machine should handle 8 cams, if has a good graphics card and enough USB controllers with add-on cards, not sure why Kinect v2 won't run on it though.

Hard to believe you can even get 320 x 240 to even work for tracking well, but it's whatever works I guess.

Wait I must have missed the bypass link. Need to look at that before I change everything and hope for the best. If I can do Mij, I'd stay with Mij. Sorry I missed that. As to 320x240. This is me years ago with I think 1 laptop, 5 or 6 cameras, I forget

https://youtu.be/MiouaiYSylM

its more important to me to have more data to record from than quality being 640x480 to prevent lag and choppiness in the basic recording. It usually always works okay but I'd rather not be at 320x240 if I can help it...and I don't think I could ever help it:/

Yeah, the link is a download for a zip and you can make it work either of the 2 ways described about making it work in this thread, I just copied the drivers folder out of the old MiJ program and pasted it into a new folder with all the other extracted new stuff and it works fine by clicking the DS3Tool.Local.exe and I uninstalled the old MiJ from programs and it still works.

Not sure it will work on Win 10 OS as you used it before on Win 8, but it does allow 2 dongles to be used on one Win 10 machine.

To find the drivers folder, you have to still have the old MiJ program installed, then the path is C:/Users/Comp Name/App Data/Local/MotioninJoy/Drivers<---- Copy out this folder, paste back with other extracted stuff from zip.

OR, you can do it how Maslov described also.

I see the video, resolution isn't awful, just a little blurry, but like you said it worked for your needs.

For weeks I've been struggling to find the reason I could not pair my Move controllers. Thought I found hope between OS 8.1 and 10 because I tried pairing on a desktop PC and that process happens flawlessly without any 3rd party applications like Motionjoy required. When I tried updating laptops. One an Asus and the other a MacBook Pro partitioned for windows, I was unable to pair motion controllers because there was something in the way that interpreted my Bluetooth stack to be overridden by...quite possibly....motionjoy drivers. Where they were located or hidden I don't know but this morning I wiped the slate clean on the Asus to the factory settings.

I started fresh, installed google chrome, downloaded ipisoft recorder, plugged in my Trendnet 107UB BT dongle, plugged in one Move controller, launched ipisoft recorder, added motion controller. Done.

Was tearing my hair out since I started this forum post. I never liked Mij. I only liked what it does but not how it did it. If anyone had problems like me after installing Toshiba or Mij drivers once but later they don't work, do what I did. Say "screw it, I'm starting over". A clean install solved all of my driver problems on one of my 2 laptops. The other laptop I may not need to go through this process, but I might if I want more than 6 motion controllers paired at the same time. 6 definitely should work from a single BT. See attached screenshot of success. Thank god! I was going nuts trying to figure out any way to pair without some wacky work around. I'm done with Mij. Gave me nothing but heartache
