Dear users! In case you did not notice, 3D World Magazine runs an animation competition:

http://www.3dworldmag.com/ipimocap

Five animations will be chosen after the closing date of 7 April 2011 and their authors will be awarded a full license of iPi Desktop Motion Capture Standard Edition. You can submit videos of your animations for competition by sending email to iPiSoft or by posing them here on this forum.

Animations created with Kinect version of our software are welcome, too!

We will appreciate if you tell your friends about this competition - a blog post or a tweet with link to 3D World's competition page would be great.

Thanks! And congratulations for all challengers!

To celebrates that I bought a Kinect to have fun in my little studio and I'm really impressed by the quality/speed of the processing with it. You saved me time consuming process for my actual project :)

Yes, the Kinect is a pretty nice addition. We have the six PS3 Eye setup, which works great, but the Kinect is so easy to setup and use. We've started using the Kinect for our short, including some retakes of early stuff that was done with PS3 Eye camears, and reserving the PS3 setup for more complicated motions or actions that require a bigger performance area. IMO, the two different setups compliment each other.

Have fun with your Kinect! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

G.

Edit: And thank you iPi Software for bringing mocap to 'the masses.' :)

Congratulations everybody! :D And a big thanks to iPiSoft for the awesome motion capture software!

It's a real honor getting up on that list of winners with everyone. And to 1k0/Danse, I think everyone was probably thinking the same thing, congrats on the best of the best, honestly if you had said you have credits for setting up shots for the Tron Legacy movie, I would probably have believed it.

1k0 & Greenlaw, and everyone using a Kinect now, Ive seen word online that Microsoft may try to bump up the resolution to 4x (2x the original dimensions) Not sure if that's a software function or a new camera, but I cant wait to plug one into iPiSoft's brilliant software package!
