I've read a lot of articles saying the Nyko Zoom is actually successful at reducing the amount of space needed to use a Kinect.
Michael, can you tell me if you think Ipistudio would work using this?

Currently, iPiStudio locks FOV setting at 70 degrees (Kinect default) for depth videos. So Nyko Zoom will not work with iPiStudio. But this should be relatively easy to change. The Nyko Zoom can also distort Kinect's absolute distance scale, this should also be coded. Until we have a chance to get our hands on Nyko Zoom (not available in retail in our country as of yet), I cannot recommend it.

I am curious why would you want smaller capture area with Nyko Zoom? Most people usually want bigger capture area.

Most people usually want bigger yes, but my apartment isn't getting any bigger. When I use this at home I do so for Machinima, not for commissioned work or anything. I don't have a dedicated space just for capturing kinect videos so I have to make do with the room my computer is in and that makes most motions difficult. A 40% improvement would make this software (and a kinect) much more worthwhile.

OK, I see.

As of today we cannot get Nyko Zoom as it is not available in retail in Russia.

I suggest that you help us adjust the software for Nyko Zoom. Please send us a video recorded with Nyko Zoom and we will upgrade the software. It should be a short short mocap video, something around 15 or 20 seconds: a few seconds of clear background, then actor enters the scene and waves a hand.

Instructions on how to send us a video:
