We are trying to do a motion capture and whe fail everytime we try to track movements, i will explain what we do to calibrate because we think that we are missing some step here.

We have a setup 3 cameras on a semi circle,

camera 1 is on a 3/4 left angle, 1,90 mt height
camera 2 is on a frontal angle 1,60 mt height
camera 3 is on a 3/4 right angle 1,90 mt height

We set the FOV to 75.

We have a really small space to do the tracking, we have fixed white paper on floor and walls to help contrast bewteen the model and the enviroment.

To track we cut the exposure to minimun and we use a led flashlight, we roughly orbit each camera and then we calibrate. we use calibration sample videos and we imitate them.

After we have calibrated the scene, we mark ground points (4), we scale the scene to match real life parameters and then we save the scene

Then we record a video for motion capture model uses a blue t-shirt and black pants, slightly tight.

Once the video is ready (mscv 640x480) we load it on IPI studio and then we load the calibrated scene.

We analyze actor appereance then but here some problems come up since the ipi studio model is to small for the actual model on the video.

When we try to track movement (using refit pose) ipi studio always fails to track one hand or one foot, but never manages to track perfectly, complex poses are imposible to track.

Questions:

All the values in ipi studio should imitate real life values? (cameras, actor height, etc)
Why the ipi studio model always is so short in relation to the video model? We adjust the model height to the actual model height in the video but is to short still.

What parameters can be modified and what can not?

Yes.



Try increasing actor height or reducing scene scale. It is possible that your scene scale is a bit off. Try playing with actor height and scene scale until you acheive good match in T-pose.

Did you set all 3 cameras for manual control of exposure?

Please note that there was a version of Logitech's driver software that didn't allow for manual control of exposure for more than 2 cameras connected at a time. There was an update that fixed this.

Without this manual control, your frame rates can vary based on how bright/dark something is, so you definitely want to set up the software for manual control for all four cameras.
