is there any way to use just cpu?

Then processing will be 25x times slower. Modern GPU more powerful than modern CPU for algorithms with high level of parallelism.

Which brings me to the question:
Will there be support for multiple GPUs? Just curious if we were to build a dedicated box for mocap.

We hope so. At least this feature exists in our "near-future" road map.

I thought it had to to with seek times on the hard drive.

It will go a little faster if you use a second hard drive to process your recordings.

You can't really say which one is better because they are both excellent. It just depends on what you're needs are, if you’re trying to capture a walk cycle or some motion that uses all the X Y Z Axis then the ps3 camera system is the best option for you. If you're capturing some kind of gesture motion let’s say someone waving then the Xbox Kinect camera is the option you should go with, it can be done with the PS3 camera setup but the PS3 camera setup requires calibration and setup. In the end what system is "better" comes back to you and your needs and wants.
