Thanks, I'll check it out when I get home. I had one kinect already so I purchased a second one and I have been having good results. Only problem is sometime it looses track of one arm. What would cause this problem? It's seems to do better when closer to the camera.

Common causes of tracking errors with Kinects are:
  • A limb is obscured by the body from all sensors (barely visible)
  • A limb is very close to the body (barely distinguishable in depth)
  • A lot of noise (yellow) in depth data caused either by mutual interference of the sensors or by improper environment

PS. So, you've given up with PS Eyes?

I won't say I've given up with them. The kinects just seem to work and I'm running out of time. I'll tRyan again with them later. Thanks.

I also have this EXACT problem with the legs doing exactly that. I had rid the room of most if not all shiny surfaces, set the actor up appropriately, tried different clothes etc. I have only one motion that has tracked good, and even so it is not usable. I have tried different clothes, different shoes, different camera set ups. Still it has not worked like I have seen the kinects do.

Here are some examples[Click the MP4 button at the top to get smooth video]:

Notice my arms are always not lining up, should I try the sleeves differently? What is best in this case?

I fixed the bare feet problem and changed my clothes up a bit trying to get better results. I wonder though, maybe my cameras are set up poorly because when I enter in the correct height of myself, it is often hard to get it to line up perfectly with all 4 cameras when adjusting the actor to myself in the scene. I think I might try better angles and capture space.

I have 4 PS Eyes set up in a half circle like on the wiki. Should I try a box or a different configuration? Any advice would be greatly appriecated. 2 of my cameras are mounted high and 2 are about mid level. Activate USB extenders on them also. I have 6 cameras in total but can only use 4 for the trial.

I want to wait and try out out the Kinect 2 set up, but my trial will expire before i do.

Hello

First, I should say your capture area is too small for PS Eye cameras.
Second, half-circle setup inevitably produces tracking errors on full turns, because at certain moments no camera sees some limb.
I think you're getting troubles when entering your actual height is because you have not scaled the results of calibration properly. So, distances in the scene world differ from the real world.

I recommend you to find a proper large empty space for doing mocap with PS Eyes.
And try 6 cameras in full circle. Even with expired trial you can do everything but the animation export. If you wish, we could do several exports for you to test the whole pipeline.
Regarding clothing. Solid colors are a must. To get more reliable tracking, it's better to have different colors for: legs, arms, torso. That's why short sleeves over long sleeves is a good choice.
Tracking errors may occur occasionally even under good conditions. But when data is good, the errors can be cleaned up easily.
