That kinda tells me that the on-board USB controller isn't fully compatible. Can you install a compatible USB Controller card?

BTW, its there a list of Kinect 2 compatible USB 3.0 controller cards (not just chipsets) anywhere? (Asking anyone, not just iPi Soft.)

Does it have only these 2 USB 3.0 ports?
Which CPU is in this desktop? If that's not Intel, then I suppose you should install a compatible PCIe USB 3.0 card (based on NEC/Renesas chip).
Windows 10 itself is not an issue for Kinect 2. I am on Win 10, and Kinect 2 works on my machine pretty well (with Intel controller).

Here is the topic on MS forums where people write what USB stuff works with Kinect v2 and what doesn't:

I do have a question for iPiSoft in this same vein....

Now that MiJ tool drivers are no longer accessible, this means only 4 Moves can be paired to one BT dongle still? I thought it was a 6 Move per dongle capability?

(Per iPi Docs)..
iPi Recorder does not limit the number of connected motion controllers. However, the hardware does. Usually, a single Bluetooth adapter can handle up to 4 PS Move controllers. This is sufficient for a single actor, but for multiple actors you may need more controllers. Thus, additional Bluetooth adapter(s) is required. Unfortunately, standard Windows Bluetooth drivers do not support multiple adapters. To use multiple Bluetooth adapters, it is necessary to install Motion in Joy drivers.

I don't have 6 Moves to test any more capability would still be nice to know this, but would the use of separate BT stack like Blue Soleil BT stack be possible and using 2 different models of BT adapters that work now with iPi Recorder, you can't use same model of adapter for each due to it would just cause connection conflicts.

Something similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/Whitelabel-Bluet ... ers+for+pc

OR, a dual band PCI-E type BT receiver? something like this: https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Wireless ... b_title_ce

If this is the case and no one can load more than 4 Moves, how will 2 or 3 actor recording be done with 3 controllers per actor, especially for Kinect 360 sensors that basically need the head controller for proper head tracking.

I can still pair 4 Moves for use with PS Eyes and 2 actor recordings, would it be possible to use dual stack dongles to achieve more access for pairing for those that need it?

I might be mistaken but could you put the additional BT dongle on another box or a laptop's BT on the network?

When I was testing my Windows tablet's built-in BT for PS Move Controllers, I thought I had BT running for iPi Recorder on both my workstation and Windows tablet at the same time at one point. (Sorry, not 100% certain about that--I ran that test quite while ago.)

Oh well yeah, I guess needing to use distributed recording for Kinect v2, you can use separate machine and BT adapters, but I was referring mostly to a single machine using 6-10 PS Eyes, or 2 Kinect 360 without using distributed recording.

I don't think you could just use distributed recording for just more Moves on a separate machine, you need at least 1 camera connected to that machine to even use distributed recording, correct?

Yes, you can use distributed recording to support more than 4 PS Moves with standard BT drivers.

I'm not sure about alternative BT stacks. We did not test that much actually. Pairing procedure in iPi Recorder won't work for sure. But if you can pair PS Move using that stack's tools and it shows itself in devices similarly then maybe Recorder could communicate with it.

As for MiJ, there is a local mode patch for it, which removes necessity to access MiJ server. I've downloaded it from this link
http://www.mediafire.com/file/1d5zfnibcby4i79/local+0.7.1001+rev3.rar
and it seems to work (run DS3_Tool_Local.exe). I did not test it thoroughly though.

Oh OK, I didn't know of this server bypass link download, that may be the solution then, thanks, I will test it and see.

I tried this, uninstalled existing drivers from an Asus 211 adapter, (had to leave plugged in, because MS tried to reinstall native drivers if I didn't), then tried to load MIJ drivers and received a fail error, I did again do the work around to disable driver signatures also.

The adapter and Move appeared in the list to load to, but couldn't load the drivers, error said "Cannot find file C:/Users/MyDesktop/drivers/MijXinput.inf.... not the actual path it stated, but you understand what I mean.

I looked for the folder or file in the downloaded local folder supplied, but there is no drivers file or MijXinput.inf

Not sure what the issue is, I used same method as before that installed the MiJ drivers ok before, I don't have another BT model compatible with MIJ, the IOGear 521 I have isn't compatible, so maybe others can try this and see if it will work, or maybe you have to use 2 different models of BT adapter for it to work?

UPDATE:

OK, I found I had to re-download the MiJ zip from the iPi Docs link, install it, then copy the drivers folder out of there to the same location as the bypass download for it to be able to access those same drivers and it worked!

Then I uninstalled the original "bad" MiJ program and it remained able to work again from just the bypass downloaded files.

Maybe this will help Adam, the original poster of this thread to get his controllers connecting as before again on Win 8, or anyone else that needs MiJ, or more than 4 Moves connected to one computer.

You just need to copy the contents of archive to the installation folder of DS3 tool, e.g.
Code:
C:\Program Files\MotioninJoy\ds3

Disable driver signature enforcement if needed and run DS3_Tool_Local.exe. I've just checked with 2 BT dongles of different models and 1 PS Move connected to each of the dongles (2 in total). Also, there was a third dongle with standard Windows drivers but I did not connect a PS Move to it because I have only 2 currently. It works OK. I think if dongles are of the same model, things won't change as dongles differ by their MAC addresses.
