I bought the
Corsair Force 120GB SSD a couple of years ago from New Egg for about $230. As an iPi Recorder dedicated drive, this has worked out perfectly for me. My intention was that, if the drive filled up during a shoot, I would offload the existing data to a regular hard disk, but as it turned out I've never even come close to filling this drive up. After a shoot, I move all the recorded data to my regular 'work' storage drive. FYI, this specific model is no longer available but nowadays you should be able to find something cheaper that's probably faster too.
If you don't want to spend that much money, you can probably go with a smaller SSD drive: 40 - 60 GB. You can actually record a lot of data in this range (
especially if you're using iPi DMC 2.0) and if you find you need more space for recording just offload to a regular hard disk.
Before purchasing an SSD, be sure check the specs and read user comments about the drive. Some of really cheap SSD drives may not be as fast as advertised.
