Hi there!

Last month i tried Samsung Gear VR and there was one problem. The VR Headset dont know, where i am in the room.
So i have to move with a controller.....what is very bad.

Is there a chance to get my position over ipisoft (realtime) to tell unity where i am??
So i dont need any controller anymore.....

It would amazing if you can do that ?!
I think...i would sell it very good?

Greets,
NICK

iPi Recorder isn't meant to be used as a realtime game engine controller, it's strictly a capture program. After capture, the data is then tracked in Mocap Studio in a separate process, and then the tracked animation data is applied to 3D characters. In other words, it's not a realtime tracking system.

The Kinect One sensor itself should be capable of tracking your position in realtime within a small space but that needs to be handled in another program or game specifically designed to use both devices. If there's a Samsung Gear VR forum, I would ask there if anybody knows of a way to use Kinect One with it. My guess is that there's probably been some development with this idea already.

(Just did a quick Google search and, yes, it looks like there are a few Kinect/Gear/Occulus Rift projects out there.)

Nope, not yet until iPi can work out someway to track in real-time and stream the performance to other applications.

i know that ipisoft is not realtime.....but for VR you only need the position and rotation, no feed and Handtracking.
So maybe its possible in realtime?
You (company) have the tools and knowhow foir it isnt it?

But ok, it was only a Question...

What I mean is that the realtime part you seek is already part of the Kinect SDK. Other realtime Mocap programs are written around this tech but iPi Mocap Studio uses its own proprietary 'non-realtime' tracking system that focuses on greater accuracy over immediacy. Since what you need must be realtime for VR use, it's probably easier to develop this on the Kinect SDK. (It may even exist already; I'd be surprised if it wasn't already being worked on by a Unity user/developer.)

That's just a personal thought though. It's not really my area of expertise.

But if you hear anything, let us know. :)
