My wish list for v2:

    Batch processing
I usually like to do one tracking "sweep" for the whole file starting from the T-pose even though there might be hundreds of wasted key frames in the middle. Only after that I select the areas for different takes and start to tweak with them. Doing so, I can also make the post-processing with one huge region of interest if I want to. That being said, I nowadays tend to record short takes even though actors don't seem to like the idea that they have to go and hide themselves all the time.

Possibility to turn off cameras in iPiStudio
Sometimes it happens, that one or two cameras give misleading information which can lead for example legs being crossed or hand going behind the back instead of being on the side. It would be a tremendous help to shut down a camera temporarily or even make it "less effective". One other situation where this would have been _very_ helpful, was when one of the cameras had been bumped into during the recording and nobody noticed it before the recordings where done.

    Something to make calibration easier
This doesn't apply very much to us anymore, but for anyone starting to use the software (especially with PS3 cameras) would benefit tremendously if the calibration wouldn't such a complicated process. I don't believe that I could set up six cameras on tripods and calibrate successfully just by myself yet. Someone else has to watch the monitor all the time and warn if the light goes out of the view. We solved the problem by fixing the cameras on the ceiling. Now we can shoot whenever we like using the same calibration again and again. Which is _so_ very nice.

Allow user to make rotation limitations
Especially since head tracking comes available, I would like to set some rules how far certain joints can rotate. Our male actor's head is probably going to be very tricky to follow, so it would help if you could make the neck/head quite stiff...

The ability to set joint limits would be a really nice feature, I agree.

The upgrade price seems pretty high to me. I wish they would run a special for a bit for people willing to commit before its even out, that would make it more tempting but for the time being I don't think I'll be upgrading due to the cost and the limited number of new features and improvements. I was really hoping the next version would revamp the UI which I feel is in need of some serious attention. I might update at some point, but maybe not.. saving up for the next tier of mocap gear is something I can't help but consider at this point, it might make more sense in the long run.

'Next tier' is probably the OptiTrack system, which starts at over nine grand. To me, the upgrade to iPi 2.0 represents a very good value. Of course, it all depends on what your goals are.

Wow, I just realized I'm only 15 posts away from number 1000. I guess I've been here a while. :p

Oh wait, I just checked their site and they do have a less expensive system for under $6,800. That's still pretty pricey by comparison though.

Anyway, apologies for the misinformation.

This page shows the software at just under $2000, http://www.naturalpoint.com/optitrack/products/arena/, but perhaps it requires the expensive cameras.. I bet they probably do.

iPi is generally a good value no doubt about it, but the upgrade IMHO just doesn't add enough for the price. Maybe I'll find myself having a change of opinion about it though, we'll see.

Yes that's the basic software only...you need to look at the total package ('Bundle') which starts at $6718, which includes the 'cheapest' model cameras, which has a capture space of about 5 x 5 ft. By comparison, iPi DMC 2.0 Basic with two Kinect Sensors is about $900 and has a capture space of 7 x 7 ft--fantastic value if you asked me.

I was wondering: will there be a pre-release beta of 2.0 like there was for 1.0? 'Early adopter' users like me would be all over that in a heartbeat.

I know, I know...it's coming out next month anyway so I should be patient.

Just getting excited about 2.0. :)
