Hi,

I use 2 kinects configuration and I noticed something strange in the ipi recorder.
I use the 180 degrees mode.

When I launch the ipi recorder i get the first picture but if I cover one of the kinects with something I get the second picture.
As you can see the floor is much accurate. What could be the problem?
I've got one kinect connected to the pc with no extension cable, and one with an Active USB cable (5m).
My frame drops are normal.

Thanks.

Hi

It's a known issue. Infrared emitters of depth sensors are interfering with each other causing noise in images of infrared cameras. This effect should be less in 90 degree configuration.

Thank you very much. I'll try the 90 degree configuration than.

If you have some technical skills, you may also try to reduce mutual interference with the Shake 'n' Sense technique: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSBDY0RuhS4

Yes it is because your kinects are looking at each other.

Vibrate one or both of your connects and offset the angles slightly.

Use camera 1 for the front view and camera 2 for the back view.

Put camera low and camera 2 high with offsetting angles.

Thanks and Cheers

By the way, you can achieve some improvement in 180-degrees configuration simply by slightly adjusting orientation of both Kinects. That's because Kinect's IR light emmiter has some interesting diffraction effect in certain orientations. An adjustment of 1-2 degrees can make all the difference.
