to bylynsky

have a look at my thread
http://forum.ipisoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6158

there is a youtube link within the thread on the crash issue which i encounter when i use the trial version

what i have done is i modified the date on my pc accidentally and maybe it mess up with the software's programming scripts

you can find the notice when you start installing the software, i had a through read and found the notice say not to change the pc's date

i have tried reinstall the software and it did not work, but you could give it a try, but i decided to reinstall the whole OS.

which did solve my issue.

hope it helps to clear your concern.

regards,

Tom

I'm not 100% certain what the current policy is but in the past the trial version was sensitive to date changes to prevent piracy. Intended or not, drastic changes to the computer's internal date probably invalidates the trial because the program assumes an attempt is being made to extend the free time limit.

If the situation is that you need more time for evaluation, I would contact iPi Soft about a possible extension to the trial period. Alternatively, you can install the trial on a different computer and start fresh.

I *think* you can install the time-limited trial again on the same computer when a new version is released but I don't know if this is only for whole number upgrades or if it includes incremental ones. If I'm not mistaken, this was mentioned elsewhere in these forums--sorry, I don't have any links to the info. I would check with iPi Soft to confirm.

In any case, it's probably best to ask them directly by email.

G.

Thanks to Greenlaw for giving his good explanations before I could share the "official" answer :)

Yes, iPi Mocap Studio trial mechanism is considering system time changes as a way of tricking to postpone trial expiration. When it detects such changes, it decreases the length of trial period. However, in recent releases there is a bug that also leads to crash in such situation. We will fix it in the next update. We will also improve error handling: the Unexpected Error Dialog (introduced in last release 2.0.0.134) is currently shown not for all kinds of crashes.

Trial periods are renewed when we publish the new big version which is a paid upgrade for existing customers. For now, this 2.0 version is the only example. We cannot definitely tell you what the frequency of such big releases will be in future. Probably, about one and a half year.

i would like to ask, does the Trial Version provide finger tracking?
i have record the video with finger movements and it doesn't fit onto the model.

We do not plan to implement finger tracking, just finger keyframing inside Studio. It will be introduced in future updates, probably within next two months.

Hello,

With the newest update ipiStudio works fine (and I didn't have to reinstall windows).

to Greenlaw: indeed I have made the first install of ipiStudio on fresh system with wrong date, then when I connected PC to internet to install the license, the time and date settings have changed...

thanks for help :)

Regards.
