Hello there,
excuse me if this question has already been asked, but I could not find any Information about it.
We would really like to buy iPi Motion Capture but are unsure which version to use. We heard that in Q3 the new version will be able to track multiple actors and props.
Now, I got 2 questions about that. Is it possible to track multiple characters with the 2 Kinect setup and is it possible to track props while tracking multiple actors?
Tracking 2 actors with props would make the process much easier for us.

Thank you so far. You made a great Software and I am looking forward to the next Patch!
Nico

Currenty, none of these 2 features are available, they should appear with free updates to v2 in Q3, possibly in early Q4.
Multiple person tracking will be included only in Standard edition.
Props tracking will be implemented using inertial sensors like PS Move & Wii Motion. It would not have limits on the number of actors.

yep sounds great! so fairly inexpensively we could have some ready-to-go weapon props:

http://www.amazon.com/MOVE-Precision-Sh ... 003UF24SI/

will prop tracking be for basic license holders? (crosses fingers)
(nevermind...just looked at the features list on the products page) :)

Hi vmaslov,

Can you be more specific on the release of the multiple character function in Standard?

For reasons I won't bore you with, I need to know in what month if at all possible. Will it be early Sept or Oct? And will this upgrade require an updated version of Ipi Recorder?

Many thanks :)

Unfortunately, not. We have no specific timeline for features. The schedule we've announced is an approximation, based on our estimates. We try to follow it, but it is not always possible. Some features may take more time to implement then we've estimated, and occasionaly some unexpected work appears that is more urgent (bug fixing, organizational matters, etc).

Currently, it is most probably that multiple person tracking will be delayed to October.

Your question sounds more like "Can I record some multiple actor video now for later processing, when the feature is available?" The answer is "Yes". Multiple person tracking as we see it does not require any special information embedded in a video file, so you could successfully process videos recorded with the current version of Recorder.

That's great news vmaslov, thankyou!

As long as I can start shooting in October with the version 2 IpiRecorder I'm happy, and then I can wait patiently for the v2 Standard update.

If I buy v2 Standard next month, will the multi-character tracker update be free? Questions....questions!.....sorry

As I've written, you can start shooting 2-actor video right now, and then wait for Studio update to process them. However, this may be still a little risky as you cannot now test the quality of tracking and reshoot if needed.

Yes, all updates are free until we publish next major version. And this will be announced in advance (a couple of months before the event). We are not planning to publish next major version in the nearest 6 months.
