Here's are some tips for synchronizing multiple performances with the current software:
For 'Happy Box', we needed the three characters to interact with each other in the second to the last shot but all the motions had to be recorded separately. To keep the performances synchronized, we pre-recorded the audio track for the film and created an animatic which was referenced by the performer during capture. Some positional tweaking of the 'paws' was done in post but the timing of the three performances was perfectly synchronized in the original recordings.
If you video record your performances during motion recording, you can play back the video takes as timing reference for other 'characters' in the scene.
Both of these techniques are used to an even greater extent in the short film we're currently working on and it's working out very well for us. It's a music video but the same technique should work well for any choreographed multi-character performance (like fighting, for example.)
