Hi, im having an issue, getting my recordings to appear in ipi studio 2.0 as 3d depth video.. I've tried using a single kinect, ive tried converting a previous video with an old version of ipi recorder and even downloaded sample depth videos from this forum, but every single video appear as flat 2D images or videos in ipi studio. Ive used ipi studio 1.3 and when i import my video in the application, it works perfect as a 3d depth video, but every since i switched over to ipi studio 2.0, all my videos appear as 2D instead of 3d. Can someone please help me resolve this problem?

The rendering behavior has not changed much in Studio v2, basically in colors for depth info. Image from depth sensor is rendered as 3D point cloud, image from color sensor as flat 2D rectangle in 3D space.
Can you attach a screenshot and describe what you mean is different?

Just guess - maybe you have rendering of depth channel turned off by some chance? This is checkbox Depth in menu View, or button Depth in the toolbar. Also in v2 rendering background for depth is turned off by default - checkbox Hide background in menu View.

Hi, thanks for responding. I have tried the things you have suggested, but nothing has worked. Here is a pic of my error, so that you can get a better look at what im talking about.

What version of Studio do you use?
What is your graphics card model?

Im using ipi studio v2.0.1.138. My graphics card is an "Intel HD Graphics" card, driver version 8.15.10.2622. Lol it sucks having an integrated graphics card, and not being able to change it, but im hoping my graphics card is enough to use ipi studio v2.

It seems your graphics chip lacks some capabilities to properly render depth point cloud. Unfortunately, the Studio could not determine this compatibility issue at startup, otherwise it just would not launch. We will try to update the checks to correctly diagnose this case.
Integrated Intel graphics is not compatible with our software with rare exceptions. Anyway, it has very poor performance for the tracking process. It is highly recommended to use at least mid-range discrete video card.

Did you use v1.3 with this same graphics chip?

Yes I have used the same graphics chip for 1.3 and it worked fine. I guess if i cant use v2 then i will have to stick with v1.3. Is there a huge difference between ipi studio v1.3 and 2.0?

Here's a list of new features in 2.0:

- Data format is lot more compact and efficient. This should help more computers to use more cameras.
- More accurate tracking.
- Actors are more configurable (compatible with wider range performer body types.)
- workflow is a little easier (a wizard now walks you through the process.)
- Head, props, and multiple actors support is not implemented yet but coming soon. (Fall or winter.)

If you've able to make the 1.0 software and a single Kinect work well for you, I'm not sure you'll see much difference yet. 2.0 is more usable for people who's body type wasn't optimal for 1.0's 'standard' rig, and for people whose computers are too underpowered to handle a lot of streaming data. The differences between 1.0 and 2.0 will become greater as more new features become activated.

Hope this helps.

G.
