This is for a dual Kinect setup

I have two laptops one is a
Fujitsu 4quad win7 i5 8gig 1gigGcard ATI graphics x64 the other is a
Msi Dual win7 intel 4gig Nvidia graphics x32
Both have 2 usb controllers
(the 64bit as the same controllers that are to use in the pictures for the user guide setup)

The 32bit can load both Kinects with alittle bit of trickery and in the devmag. it will show both at 61% bandwidth.
but the 64bit system cannot, only one Kinect will load one and i cant get the other usb controller to pick up the other one no matter what order usb i use external or not both I have installed everything and unsttalled everything including usb drivers many many many times with no luck.

Problem is the 32bit system isnt powerful enough to handle the job..HELP!!!

Hi
What is your Fujitsu laptop model?

Do you mean you tried to connect second Kinect using an external ExpressCard USB controller? If not - try it, because all available USB ports of the laptop may be physically linked to the same USB controller.

USB hub just add more ports, but not controller (and not bandwidth). You should try an external USB controller similar to this one

But one last thing does it matter if it is like the one that you linked or one like this

Should be OK.
There is a small possibility that some compatibility issue may arise between Kinect and the USB chipset used in this card (Fresco Logic FL1100). We had not tested controllers with this particular chipset. But also we have not met any USB compatibility issues with Kinects so far. So I think you can choose this controller if you like.

It depends on the size of the Expresscard slot in your computer. Some laptops have a wide slot and some have a narrow one. If your computer has the wide slot, you might want to get the wider card--you can insert a narrow card into a wide slot but it's not as stable and may pop out easily. Naturally, you can't stick a wide card into a narrow slot.

My old laptop had a wide Expresscard slot and my current Tablet PC does not have a slot at all, so be sure to check before ordering.

If you're asking about quality difference between these two cards, I don't know. I've had good luck with TrendNet products in the past but have no experience with AKE. You might want to check customer ratings/comments about the product to be sure.

The wiki mentions a possible issue with USB 3.0 NEC chipset and ASUS sensors. I think the chipset is fine for Kinect and PS3 Eye though. I think there was a potential issue between PS3 Eye another USB chipset--I don't remember the details but you can search the forums for this. You can usually find which chipset the cards use by going to the manufacturer's website.

Hope this helps.

Just one more thing: as I said earlier, my old laptop has a wide slot, but I had to purchase a narrow USB 3.0 card for it because that's all that was available at the time. Luckily, the card performed perfectly in my computer--I just had to be careful not to bump it or it would fall out.

This was a couple of years ago and I imagine the selection of cards is better today but I just wanted you to know that if you have to buy a narrow card for a wide slot, it should work just fine.

G.
