just an idea really, on how to track the hand movements

a glove with a piece of cardboard.
the software would need to have a new written code to track the hand.
might be an idea...

we'll see what they come up with.
anyone has any other ideas?

Hey

As ironic as this may sound for a markerless system, if the software could pick up half a ping pong ball on the back of the hand then that would be perfect. The only problem I see with the cardboard is that it could fall off.

I'm still not sure how the update intends to handle prop tracking but if it uses these principles in order to detect the back of the hand then that would be pretty cool. There may be some issues with occlusion but it is a good start to solving the problem!

We'll be using inertial sensors for props tracking - that is PS Move and Wii Motion Plus.

Ahhh interesting! So it will be more for items like baseball bats, is there plans to have multiple of these detected at once or just one in any given scene?

Yes, we plan to support multiple sensors.

That's very interesting. Should I assume that, unlike the Kinect and PS3 Eye, we also need the associated game console to make these devices work with iPi Recorder? I'm curious because this is how the PS Move works as a 3D controller for LightWave 11. I don't own a PS Move or PS3 console but I am interested in using Wii Motion Plus for iPi DMC because we do have a Wii console here at home.

Thanks in advance for any info and good luck with getting this feature working!

Fortunately, your assumption is not right. Controllers will be directly connected to a PC via Bluetooth. You will need USB Bluetooth adapter if your PC does not have a built-in one.

One more question: in your testing, has one type of game controller worked any better than the other for wrist tracking or are the results about the same?

I understand if you prefer not to answer that until after release but I am curious. Thanks in advance for any info.
