I've been using the software for about a month now. I recently purchased the basic version and did a proper shoot with four PS3 Eye cams.
Here's my tracking request list based on workflow issues that came up with processing this shoot. BTW - I have read the wiki, tutorials and the forum thoroughly before posting this. Some of these requests have been proposed already so their inclusion in this list should hopefully help to bump them up.
This list is sorted by priority:
1 - The ablility to lock bones (see manymotion's post)
2 - The ability to copy and paste individual bones. This could use the same or similar selector to the bone locking or even just the currently selected bone. In addition, I would like to be able to copy rotation, translation or both.
3 - The ability to change the length of the bones to fine tune the actor. This really is critical as people do not all have the same proportions. I can't find a height setting where all the parts of my actor are the correct length for optimum tracking. This could be done at a higher level like "arm length, leg length". These two adjustments would probably be enough for most (if not all) cases. (this has also been posted before)
4 - The ability to zoom the main 3D display without moving the camera. E.g. strictly zooming the screen image. This would allow me to focus on specific areas more closely while keeping the model aligned with the video image. This could use the "+" and "-" keys. When doing this the manipulators should stay a consistent size and not be scaled with the display.
5 - Give priority to picking IK handles. This currently works if you turn the skin display off but otherwise the skin blocks it. Realistically, there is no reason to take the skin geometry into account when picking so it should just be filtered out anyway.
6 - Ability to apply trajectory filtering on a per joint basis.
7 - The ability to set the size of the manipulators and gimble.
8 - Ability to zoom the timeline similar to what you see in Maya or Motionbuilder. This would mean specifying a start and end range for the timeline.
9 - A comprehensive list of keyboard shortcuts in the Wiki. Some of these are in the interface and some scattered around the wiki but most of them I have found through trial and error. Searching the wiki for "keyboard shortcuts" should return this page.
10 - A description in the wiki of how to use the onion skinning feature. I haven't been able to figure this out or to find any help on it.
The software is pretty darn good but little things like this are keeping be from being as productive as I could with it. Hope to see this changes really soon.
I'll be doing a separate post for calibration issues.
Thanks.
