I get an exception 0x80004005 when trying to connect to my usb 3 controler either for single or duel kinects. The usb 2 connections work fine but I'm using a laptop so there are only two controlers available ( 1 usb2 and 1 usb3). Any suggestions?

Hi
Maybe the USB3 controller in your laptops has compatibility issues with Kinect. If the laptop has an ExpressCard slot, you can try external USB3 controller.
At what moment this error appears? Can you provide a screenshot?
What drivers do you use - Kinect SDK or PrimeSense?

I just downloaded the Brekel face tracking program, and it came with SDK. The brekel has the same issues with the usb3 port and the usb 2 ports work fine. The usb3 driver is a Fresca driver. I've already tried uninstalling and re installing all of the players in this issue(including the usb drivers). I must note that I was running the trial version of Ipi a year ago and, although I had some issues with the tracking with two kinects, I still got the usb3 port to work with the kinect. I'm now using the Basic version of Ipi. I've done some reading on the net about 0x80004005 exceptions and there really is no solid, standard fix. "This API has recieved an exception from an HRESULT: 0x80004005"...that's the message I get in Ipi when I try the usb3 port whether as a single or dual connection (two kinects with the usb2 and usb3 ports)

By the way...the error appears at the "Setup" step in Ipi.

Maybe this issue was introduced in some version of Kinect SDK.
Can you provide the trace file taken after you see the error in iPi Recorder? To get it, click on menu tools > show trace, then SAVE TO FILE and attach here.

Thanks for the log.
As I see, you use pretty old version of iPi Recorder (2.0.0.13) - please update to the latest version either with auto update feature, or downloading the installer from our website. If you continue to encounter this issue, please make another log with the new version.

So, it does not want to work with Kinect SDK. You can try with PrimeSense drivers. A year ago it was version 1 and it worked with Kinect only through PrimeSense drivers.
Uninstall Kinect SDK, and then install PrimeSense drivers for Kinect downloaded from here:
