to ManyMotion:

Interesting.
I'm guessing you are capturing 1 session with two people in contrasting clothes, both performing a T-Pose at start, interacting with each other, then you work with the same capture file twice for each actor?

Very interested in details.
Guessing this would not work for two dancing.

Hey

Yeah I capture one video and work with the file twice.

Dancing I have not tried but obviously the more occlusion you have the more work it will end up being. I would give it a try and see what your results are like. I mostly plan my scenes around the limitations.

Just me or seems iPi should just go the Gyro route with a suit or strapped on "PS3 Move Controller" type item?

Seems to be their current solution for various add on features like props, hands, etc. Would jump start them into 2 person capture.

Just need to find some some Chinese manufacturer to make a smaller compact sensor to put into pouches and velcro'd onto body parts like the other MOCAP companies are doing.

1. Sorry for delay with response. We are now struggling to implement multiple persons tracking as soon as possible, but we have development schedule delays due to RnD risks that we encounter. Currently we expect to have this feature released in May. For multiple persons tracking you will need Standard license, and 6 Sony PS Eye cameras set-up.

2. We cannot offer any good workaround for multiple persons tracking before the feature is released, because even if you track persons one by one with current version, you will have a lot of tracking errors because of occlusion, and problems with actors motions synchronization. So the only advice is to have patience an wait until feature is released.

3. Yes, Sony Move is recommended for swords fight tracking. 1 Bluetooth adapter should be enough for 2 Sony Moves.

Hi, Greenlaw!
I'm sorry for the late response.
I wasn't aware you had a production log. You should put it in your signature links!
Very valiable lessons overthere.

As for the hair, I created a nice "haircut" in fibermesh. My main problem is the render inside Maya.
I know it may look different from Zbrush's native rendere, but right now it looks so bad, that I may not even use it. I'm not familiar with Lightwave and I don't think I'll have the time to learn it properly right now... I guess I'll have to tweak the options in Maya until I find something usable.

Nice input, ManyMotion. I haven't even considered using gloves and I wasn't aware of the constrasting colors' importance.

Pas, thank you for your answer. I'm very disappointed with the reschedule... But can we consider May a final date? I've got an extension on my deadline, but I don't think can afford another reschedule. One of the reasons I bought the Standard license was this feature in particular, for this project in particular (which happens to be for my graduation).

I am in the same boat, I bought a 6 camera license for two person tracking thinking it was coming out at the end of last year.

It would be nice if we could at least start filming the two person tracking and then process it when the code is ready.

Would we be safe to record with two people and process it when the code is ready to process it?

Thanks!

Hi, guys.
I'm trying to work my way around this limitation and doing one by one actors capture, and later polishing and syncronizing the movements with animation layers.

Anyone could tell me what kind of occlusion problems are we taking it into account(or for that matter, what they are)?

Multiple person tracking does not seem to require any modifications to the recording process. So the answer is "yes, it's 95% safe". Especially if action videos would contain T-poses for both actors.

Any situations when one actor (at least partially) occludes another actor in the view of one or more cameras. If the tracking algorithm assumes that there is a single actor in the scene, it most probably will end up with incorrect skeleton position in such situation, trying to match a single model to a combined image of two actors. If the tracking algorithm is aware of two actors in the scene, it will handle such situations more accurate by matching two models to an image of two actors.

Would you recommend them wearing different sock colors, glove colors and hat colors?

If so I will gear up and start recording.

Thank you!
