So it has the NEC/Renesas USB 3.0 chipset, and unfortunately does not have an ExpressCard slot.
It's strange that you have this issue because we have successfully tested Kinect with the NEC chipset.

Do other devices like USB drives work well with this USB 3.0 port?
Do you experience frame rate issues before you start recording (wait for at least 1 minute), or the problems begin only while recording?

I studied the Recorder frames per second of the one Kinect I have plugged into the USB 3 port.

It alternates between 30 fps and 29.9 fps and never really stabilizes or settles. Originally I had a 5m USB extension cable between the Kinect and my laptop but I plugged the Kinect in directly. No joy either. I tried recording again (with my 3 year old son doing a T-pose might I add!)......and it hung up after 10 seconds.

I've also tested a couple of my external USB storage drives in the blue USB 3 port, and there's no problems.

After long e-mail conversation we have found solution: JPEG compression with low quality for color stream resolves the issue with frame drops. We'll try to reproduce and investigate this issue in more details. Most likely it concerns low CPU or HDD productivity. Meanwhile everybody who has similar issue can try to use JPEG compression.
