hey guys!

we're planning a shoot with 2 actors at the same time, and we'd like to attach 3 ps move controllers to each actor (head, hands). unfortunatly by now i just managed to load a maximum number of 4 controllers into the recorder - is this a limit by the software, or a limit by the bluetooth adapter? (need a second adapter?)

cheers and thanks

There is no limit on the number of controllers in iPi Recorder.
It may be the limit of Bluetooth controller, though I do not know definitely.

We have recently tested that Motion in Joy drivers support using more than 1 BT adapter simultaneously. You just need to pair one group of PS Moves to one adapter, and second group - to another.
iPi Recorder v2.1.6.23 contains performance improvements that make recording with Moton in Joy drivers much more stable than before. You can give it a try.

aaalright - well, today we got a second bluetooth adapter, but when i installed and paired 2 motion controllers to the new adapter, the controllers formerly paired with the old adapter disappeared from the "devices" list in the recorder. as if the recorder would only recognize one (the old) adapter.

then, i unplugged the old (working) adapter to see if the recorder still doesnt find the new adapter, and (after restarting the software) all the working devices from the old adapter disappeared, and the devices paired to the new adapter appeared, BUT, below the picture it says: HID error 121. after hitting the "refresh" button, the motion controllers disappear again - any ideas?

cheers and thanks!

Before sinking into further details, let me ensure you've done what I proposed. Did you switch your Bluetooth adapters and PS Moves to using Motion in Joy drivers instead of standard drivers coming with Windows?

OK. (Sorry if the question seemed too obvious)

Did you try to reboot OS?
Are there any problems shown in Device Manager when both BT adapters are plugged in (PS Moves turned off)? When you turn on PS Moves?
Try starting Recorder when all PS Moves are off, then turn them on one by one and hit the Refresh button each time. If that does not help, please also provide the trace log of Recorder from this run.

maybe it requires 2 usb controller(not port) like dual kinects require.

is it possible to record motion controllers with another computer and merge this data?

No, our software does not support multiple PCs scenarios.
