It has been a while since I last did any mocap and i've just done quite a lot of capture with dual kinects and 3 motion controllers.

Calibration is fine but the captured motion cameras are in the wrong order. :(

Can I do anything to change the order of the cameras at a later stage?

If I understand what you're asking correctly, the order of the Kinects shouldn't matter as far as Mocap Studio is concerned. Is there a reason you need to switch them?

Or do you mean the 'hand/prop/head' controllers? This shouldn't matter either because you assign each motion controller's data to the associated bone/prop after tracking is completed. The tricky bit may be in figuring which controller goes to which item if you didn't take note of this when recording--this shouldn't be difficult to figure out but it's an annoyance.

That's what I thought but I cannot get the initial Refit pose to work.

If you think of the two cameras at 90 degrees, from the actors position facing out the camera 1 is on the left and cam2 on the right. The refit pose is turning the actor through 90 degrees such that when it's aligned in camera 2, choosing cam 1 is more or less facing the actor backwards because it has rotated the character 90 degrees anticlockwise if that makes sense?

I swapped the order of the cameras in ipi recorder and repeated some capture and that was no problem so it's not as if I have totally forgotten how to do this but something is off.

When I select each camera view and rotate the actor to suit that view, swapping to the other camera view has the actor rotated incorrectly.

I seem to recall from using the PS Eye's that it worked best with camera 1 starting on the right and going anticlockwise and I haven't done that for this recording.

So, either I want to be able to swap the camera order as ipi studio understands it, or I need to be able to rotate the pose correctly or I need to do something else but either something is wrong or i'm missing a key step that I have forgotten.

I do recall that sequential order was important with PS3 Eye, but I don't think I've run into a problem with order with dual Kinect yet, and I typically use the 90 degree setup. It would be good to hear from iPi Soft to confirm this though, just to be sure.

When calibrating for Kinect, do you move the board in a 'front-back' pattern? This (along with other motion patterns) is critical for calibrating dual Kinect positions. In fact, a fairly diverse range of movements for the board really helps the calibration system--this is contrary to the 'side-to-side rotation only' motion suggested for the old software.

Hope this helps.

I *think* the calibration was good, it had twice the good capture points than the second capture session with the cameras in the other order.

Did you have a different ordering of kinects in calibration video and in action video?

If so then you can change camera ordering simply by editing calibration XML file with a text editor (e.g. Notepad).

No, same order for the calibration and capture but in that case i'll try the second calibration with the original video and change order then and see what happens

Then why is there a problem with camera ordering?

Good question, I don't know but it was only when I went back and swapped the order in the recorder that the second capture worked.

I'll test this again tomorrow as i'm curious to see if I can reproduce it and more importantly avoid issues but the good news is that swapping the order of the cameras in the xml worked to allow me to match pose and track the first set of captures so thanks for that :)

This sounds a bit like a problem I had with 2.0 before iPi Soft explained that I needed to include front-to-back movements in my calibration pattern. This z-motion makes it clear to Mocap Studio that you are using a 90 or 180 configuration and also which camera is on the right and which is on the left.
