BTW, tracking backwards is absolutely a valid technique--this is why the iPi Mocap Studio has this capability. In many situations, you will get much better results from tracking backwards. At some stage, I wind up using this method in nearly all my mocap tracking.
In my experience outside of iPi Mocap Studio, I've found this method is just as true when tracking video and film footage to generate 3D camera motions for cg and visual fx production. Quite often, there is more tracking information data available when working with from a future moment in time looking back.
