Hello,

I have bootcamp installed with Windows 7 for my 2010 Mac Pro. I've also installed all drivers and updates, as well as everything for Kinect Windows and the trial of iPi.

In the iPi Recorder device setup, only one Kinect works at a time. I can see both Kinects as "ready" but when I go into setup, one camera is always stuck at "initializing". Ultimately, I get a message about usb hub conflict (no matter what ports I use). I'm pretty sure the Mac Pro has a few different usb hubs. While toggling in and out of setup, one time both cameras suddenly worked together, but that was only once.

Any ideas on this? Thanks!

After doing a little research, it appears that there may not be adequate usb buses on the mac pro (sigh). I am now looking at installing a usb PCIe expansion card such as:

OR, 1 Kinect with 1-2 PSeye cams

Can anyone give me some input on this please? Can I mix 1 Kinect with PSeye cams? Is the quality better with dual Kinects? Would the expansion card work better?

Thanks!

Hi
You cannot mix Kinect with PS Eye. If you have already tried all possible USB ports combinations with no luck, then PCIe USB controller will be an ideal solution to support second Kinect. FYI, you can find less expensive controllers than the one you have suggested:

Thought I'd post a follow up - I did go with the Sonnet 2-Port Allegro USB 3.0 PCI Express Controller Card and dual connects are now working. I went with this card despite the price because it was one of the few that also works under Mac OS. Bonus is I now have USB 3.0 for my Mac :) I'm thinking about putting a tutorial together to help fellow Mac users.
