Hi, before I decide to upgrade from basic to standard version I did a test with 1 and with 2 GPUs.

At the main GPU is a 30" monitor with 2560x1600 plugged, on the other GPU are 2 x 21" monitors with 1600x1200 resolution.

Both GPUs are Nvidia GTX580 and doing well in this configuration when rendering 3D images with octane GPU renderer.

The results of my testings in iPiMocap are a bit confusing:

2 x GTX580 = tracking 0.9 frames/second
1 x GTX580 = tracking 2,4 frames/second

The stream was recorded with 2 Kinect sensors. How can this explained? Multi GPU support would be my main reason to upgrade. (Another would be using 3 Kinect).

Regards

Hi
Did you test the performance with numerous projects or only with a specific one?
If you unplug one of the monitors from the second video card, does this improve the dual GPU performance?
Do you use the latest release of iPi Mocap Studio (2.5.1.159)?

Hello vmaslov, thanks for your support. To answer your questions:

I tested several different projects.

Disconnecting one of the monitors don´t bring more speed. Disconnecting both monitors makes the second GPU invisible to ipi Mocap Studio. Disconnecting one of the monitors while ipi Mocap Studio is running (but not on the disconnecting Monitor) crashes the program.

Yes I am using the latest ipi Mocap Studio version.

Since today is the last day with the upgrade special, I think I have to stay with basic.

Best Regards

According to our testing, upgrading from one high-end GPU to two high-end GPUs will speed up processing only for projects with 4 or more cameras. For projects recorded with 1 or 2 Kinects, dual-GPU setup may actually result in slowdown.

This does not explain the slowdown from 0.9 seconds per frame to 2.4, though. In your case, it looks like there is a problem with configuration of video cards. DirectX 9 does not have tools for proper detection of actual GPUs in the system, so you have to disable SLI and follow this guide for enabling multi-GPU processing:

http://wiki.ipisoft.com/Multiple_GPUs

Maybe the GPU with two 21" monitors is detected as two GPUs. In that case, disconnecting one of 21" monitors may help.
