"Enhanced" means USB 2.0 in this case. This was to differ from USB 1.0 and 1.1 in the old days. Mixing USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports for connecting Kinects is OK, as Kinect is USB 2.0 device and will work in backward compatibility mode on USB 3.0 controller.
You should connect 2 of Kinects to USB 2.0 ports (black ones) and the last Kinect to USB 3.0 port (blue ones). If you already use our software with 2 Kinects, then you should know the working combination of USB 2.0 ports for connecting 2 Kinects :)

I was successful in capturing with two Kinects in the past one actor. I haven't used the software for a long time but now that standard has got finally the ability to capture two actors I'm about to dive in again. But looking at the 3 Kinect combination for more accurate two actors capture.

I recorded a calibration with three Kinect cameras last night in Recorder, but ipiStudio wouldn't allow calibration. It wasn't even an option to set up. Are the three Kinect cameras not supported by ipiStudio yet?

3 depth sensors support was introduced in Mocap Studio v2.5.0.158 back in October. What version do you use?

Just checked, 2.5.1.159

When I go 'New Project' and load in the capture, the only option is 'Action Project'. No Calibration is listed.

Do you mean that you see an option for Action project, but no option for Calibration project in the New Project wizard?
Does this video shows 3-camera picture when you open it in Recorder?
Can you provide us this video file for testing?
Have you tried to record another 3-Kinect video and open in Mocap Studio?

Yep, that is all I can see. Calibration shows if I select both Depth + Color, but it assumes PSEye Calibration with the flashlight marker. No Kinect calibration.

Yes.

The file is quite large, when I get a chance today I can put it in my dropbox.

Have you tried to record another 3-Kinect video and open in Mocap Studio?
Yeah, but the results were the same.

Answer's above in bold.

I could be mistaken but I believe calibration for triple Kinect requires the flashlight calibration method (thus the need to enable the RGB channel.) I don't think you can't use the panel-based calibration method with triple Kinect--that only works for dual Kinect.

Sorry for the uncertain answer--I've been away from using iPi Mocap Studio for a few months and I can't check this at the moment. If the above is incorrect, hopefully somebody will pop in with more accurate info.

Oh, now it's clear. Greenlaw is absolutely right, 3 depth sensor configuration can be calibrated only using the light marker technique. You can find this info in our wiki:
http://wiki.ipisoft.com/Getting_Started_with_Triple_Depth_Sensor_Configuration
Thus, the depth-only video from 3 Kinects can only be processed as an action video.
The feature is at experimental stage, so there can be some confusion in the UI. Thanks for pointing that out.

I tried the flashlight calibration method with 2 and 3 kinects under several different conditions, but iPiStudio recognized the flashlight in to few frames to calibrate sucessfully. On the same stage calibration with a pane worked well (of cource with 2 kinects). Calibration with 6 PSP Eye and flashlight also worked well.

Is there a way to see a sample video/sample project ?

Is it necessary, that depth information of the flashlight is there ? On depth screen I see my arm/hand, but Maglite (a black one) is yellow.

When will the 3 kinect method leave experimental stage ?

Flashlight itself is always yellow in depth map. It's required that visible (in depth map) part of hand should be right under flashlight spot.

Most likely the root of this issue concerns bad work of auto gain and exposure of Kinect for XBOX devices. Thus it is desirable to use Kinect for Windows which has manual settings for gain and exposure or ASUS Xtion Live or PrimeSense Carmine which auto gain and exposure work much better.

If you wish you can share your calibration video with us to prove or disprove this guess.
