Hi everyone,

I'm working right now on my degree final project, a sci-fi shortfilm about a robot. I don't want to lose so much time doing keyframe animation so I thought using iPi and motion capture could be a great idea.

I bought three PS-Eye cameras and I'm very happy with the results. I've recorded a few tests that you can watch here:

Now I'm trying to learn how to transfer the animation from the iPi rig to a custom rig. I use Maya, and after searching on the wiki and iPi forum everyone uses HumanIK and it looks pretty easy to do the retargeting process, but in my case I can't use HumanIK, my character is a human-like robot that uses a custom mechanical rig.

¿Do any of you know which workflow is better for retargeting iPi animations to a custom rig? I don't mind using MotionBuilder if it's needed...

I've sent a message to Dan Brown because after watching his 21 Points Teaser it is exactly what I'm looking for:

Thank you everyone and excuse me for my english, I'm not a native speaker.

From my own experience Human IK allows you to work with your custom rig (to some extend at least). You can 'define' your custom rig and use it in HumanIK for retargeting. If you could show your rig set up it might be easier to say will it work well with HumanIK. However as long as it is bipad character it shouldn't be a problem.

Some more complex solution -> link. In just a few of mocap stuff I did, I didn't need to go so deep into technical stuff yet, but it might be useful for you.
