Are you using Load Items from Scene - Merge Only Motion Envelopes in Lightwave? This method has been working flawlessly for me for a few years now. My workflow is to send an iPi Mocap Studio .bvh to Motion Builder for retargeting and editing, and then export an FBX from there for LightWave, and then use LIFS/MOME to transfer the animation data from the FBX to a rigged LightWave character.

A couple of my friends are using Nevron Motion, and they tell me the workflow is similar, except they are bypassing Motion Builder altogether and doing they're mocap editing in LightWave. (I don't know if they're retargeting in Mocap Studio or LightWave but it probably doesn't matter. Sorry, I don't have much experience with Nevron Motion to offer much details. Try the LightWave forums for that.)

A few people have posted that they retarget in Mocap Studio and export FBX directly for LIFS/MOME in Lightwave with success. I recall at one time you might have had to make some kind of rotation adjustment to the root of your rig with this workflow but I don't know if that's still necessary. For more info about this workflow, check the Rebel Hill link above. I'm not sure you still need to make the adjustment but the video may give you some ideas for what might be going wrong.

A few tips...

When importing the animation to your rig in LightWave, select the root object in the LIFS panel. Naturally, the name of the root object must match the name of the root object in your LightWave scene.

The rig in the FBX and the rig in LightWave, needs to share the same hierarchy of bones. I guess that may seem obvious, however you can add other bones or rig controls to the Lightwave rig so long as they don't interrupt the hierarchy, and the transfer will still work.

You can have only a single 'Take' in the FBX for Lightwave to import the animation properly, so be sure to strip out any extra data. If you have more than one Take in the FBX, you will probably just get a single frame of data on your rig and a confused look on your face. I don't think this is a bug but it is a limitation to be aware of.

Hope this helps. :)
