Tip: If you can, you should start learning and using the iPi Mocap Studio as soon as you can, even if you aren't planning to use it on an actual project until much later. iPi Mocap Studio simplifies the process of motion capture but using it effectively is an acquired skill that takes time and practice to master. You'll want become familiar with its strengths and limitations, and learn how to perform for the system optimally.
Quoting this for great truth and justice :) I set up my 6-camera mocap rig in my garage, and took about two months of occasional poking at it to get things working 100% and my workflow sorted. All sorts of things needed sorting out like camera colour differences, the lighting in the room, which camera to T-Pose at, how to present the PSMoves to cameras, getting 6 cameras to actually working with USB extension leads in the mix...
I then didn't use it for about 8 months. Now my project (and my spare time!) has progressed to the point I need it for actual producable footage, I've been able to resurrect the setup and drop straight into using it. It would be immensly frustrating to be going through the learning process right now.
This also means I won't be going to version 3 for the lifetime of this project - I've got a working rig that's capturing with very few problems!
