Do you want to suggest something useful or do you need help in animal mocap?
iPi Motion Capture is intended only for human mocap.

Vmaslov, what do you mean? I capture motions for cats all the time.

Well, okay, nevermind. :p

Okay, all kitten aside--um, I mean kidding aside--you'll need a system that can use specialized rigs based on the animal you're attempting to record. This system may also need special software that understands how the animal should move.

When I was with Rhythm and Hues, I saw video from a mocap session for horses that was used in the movie Chronicles of Narnia. I think they used an optical system and they recorded in what appeared to be an indoor horse arena. Our department got to work with the data on a different project and I thought the motions were really quite beautiful. Anyway, I don't know much about the proprietary tools or how they did it but I imagine it required a lot of custom coding and equipment, not to mention a great deal of expense.

Anyway, the point is, iPi Mocap Studio is specifically designed for human bodies. For animal mocap, you'll need to find software that's specially designed for recording animal motions and retargeting to animal rigs--Mocap Studio does not do this.

Now, you could try imitating the performance of an animal in iPi Mocap Studio, mainly an animal that can walk on its hind legs. You might get something satisfactory for apes, bears, or big foots and other bipedal creatures. If you're clever with your rig, you can even capture dinosaurs and dragons. Naturally, this isn't true 'animal' motion capture but it's probably the best you can expect with this software. IMO, you'd be much better off animating animals by hand based on reference video, or investing in an existing library of animal motion capture.
