Hello folks,

I've checked the wiki, but couldn't find a setup for 8 ps3 eye cameras. IS there some tutorials and information about it? Also the cabel is only 2 meters, is there a solution for that, because as I've saw, you have to plug each usb in individual port...

Any information, someone?

Thanks in advance!

Hi

8 cameras setup does not differ much from 6 cameras, i.e. full circle configuration is recommended.
To connect distant cameras to a PC, you need active USB extension cables like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Extension-Repeater-Compatible-computer-extension/dp/B002VG39BI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1407678656&sr=8-3&keywords=usb+32+feet

A bit of clarification. Not each camera should be connected to a separate USB port but each 2 cameras should be connected to a separate USB controller. Usually, modern PCs have 2 USB 2.0 controllers and 1 USB 3.0 controller. So for 8 cameras an additional controller is needed, which can be installed in PCI/PCIe extension slot.

Thanks a lot for the reply,

Also, is it possible / do you have plans, for combining kinect v2 with ps3 eye cameras so they work together? Because I have one kinect v2 here, gathering dust.

And my second question is, 6 ps3 eye camera setup have more quality potential than a single kinect v2 for mocap?

Thanks a lot for your time!

Currently, we do not plan to introduce the support for mixed Kinect/PS Eye setups.
There is a detailed comparison of pros/cons of dual Kinect vs PS Eye configuration in our wiki:
http://wiki.ipisoft.com/Dual_Depth_Sensors_vs_Sony_PS_Eye_Comparison
Single Kinect is less accurate than dual Kinect, and is positioned as entry level solution - easiest setup, most affordable, simple motions.

Thanks for the information, I love the 60fps option to the ps3 eyes, but the room is a big problem, I'm very disappointed that the kinect v2 doesn't have higher fps solution.
