I was hoping this was a joke... apparently not. Well I guess I'll just be trying to forget how much money I spent on V2 only to hit end-of-line....what a dick move iPi Soft :(

Time to look for other solutions I guess.

Yeah, feel cheated. Seemed it was just getting started, smoothing out issues. and finally catching up with a better camera system and get slapped in the face with a subscription fee. Rather save up the money and buy a MoCap suit now.

Indeed, I was just going to purchase ipi mocap standard and then I found you changed to rental. That's NOT fair for your customers. Please reconsider this.
Nobody is willing to pay 1200$ for renting a software a year!
Make a perpetual license with updates by subscription.
Don't try to force your users into a subscription or they will go away.
You are changing an awesome product into a useless rental.

I was really excited to buy iPi this Christmas; I'd waited on buying a few months ago after trialing because I had a feeling 3.0 would drop. But now... I feel two ways: one, I'm immensely glad I did not purchase it earlier because I would be sitting on top of a now null program, and two, really sad because there's no way that an indie developer such as myself can hope to realistically pay for a program like this which had so much potential. I guess I'll see how Brekel has been doing lately...

Another disappointed user here. This product was supposed be "mocap for the masses", yes? Well, the masses can not afford 500 bucks/euros a year. Although I do sincerely hope you have made the right business decision here. I'd hate to see a brilliant product like this die because of greed (sorry to put this so bluntly, but this is how I feel right now...)

This is really sad.

First I thought, I had found a great software developer who creates great software with the user in mind. So I bought iPi Motion Capture.

Second, I learned that things are changing. Interesting features were only available for the high price range of iPi Motion Capture. It was a bit disappointing.

Now, iPi thinks that rental is the way to go? Bye bye iPi Soft. I will NEVER RENT your software.

@AtlmicJoe
Agreed!

Rental software is only achievable for bigger studios that have the money to afford it on the long run.

I would assume that the typical user of iPisoft is usualy an indie developer who calculates very tight if they buy iPisoft or another softwareproduct. I think the new rental licence system is very contraproductiv to those indie users. But of course I don't really now all the customers of iPisoft. Maybe they did the right thing maybe not.

For me iPisoft v3 is definitely a no go as long as the rental system exist.

I have been with iPi Soft since it first came out and have upgraded. Not going to be subscriber for version 3. I guess I will hold at version 2 and use it as best I can while looking for alternatives. What a shame.
