I have a fresh installed windows 8.1 pro system running on a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R 2.0 and a brand-new kinect 2 for windows.

I've downloaded the latest v2 SDK (1409). All good. I run the configuration verifier and everything checks fine except the "Verify Streams".

Looking in device manager the kinect sensor "WDF KinnectSensor Interface 0" has a caution sign next to it. I've tried on different ports, re-booted and everything else I can think of, but it simply won't work!

If anyone has any tips or thoughts on how to fix it would be most appreciated. It's driving me mad!

Do you connect the Kinect to USB 3.0 ports?
It may be the case that your on-board USB 3.0 controller is not compatible with Kinect 2.

Oh, if that's that case, is there a work around? Any info appreciated.

According to specs, your MB has NEC (Renesas) USB 3.0 controller, which should be compatible with Kinect 2. Please check that in Device Manager. You can provide a screenshot of expanded node 'Universal Serial Bus controllers' here.

What message is displayed in Device Status when you double-click the Kinect device in Device Manager?
Also, ensure that you do not have any other devices connected to USB 3.0 ports when you connect the Kinect. You may try first by unplugging all unnecessary USB devices.
