Hello all,

We recently attempted to capture an approximate 20 second clip of a hockey player skating on a skating treadmill; the rendering time to track forward the capture took approximately 90 minutes to complete. Any suggestions regarding any settings to turn off in order to produce a more expedient tracking time?

Thanks for your help!

Hi
What camera configuration do you use?
What is the video card on processing PC?

Hi vmaslov,

I am running a single XBOX Kinect, and use an Intel HD Graphics Card in my laptop. Would you recommend any settings changes that would help quicken the tracking process as my card is not ideally suitable for this type of processing?

Thanks!

I recommend you to find another PC for processing, which have a discrete video adapter. Integrated graphics (maybe, except the latest generation Intel HD 4xxx/5xxx series) simply does not provide adequate performance for our software.

I suggest getting a new Nvidia GTX card, the more recent model, the better.

I'm using a very old GTX 460, and my processing times are about 0.7 sec per frame, which is actually 'slow' compared to more modern cards. I'm hoping to upgrade my computer sometime next year but, for now, my current setup is still very usable for production work. IMO, anything slower than that just isn't very practical. (In other words, it should take minutes, not hours to calculate the mocap data.)

If you look in the iPi Wiki, you can find a chart with comparisons. I'm not sure how current it is but it should give you an idea of what to expect.

G.
