I'm experiencing the same problem with Windows 8.1 as several others it seems in getting my Bluetooth dongle working with Motioninjoy. I have an Asus BT400 USB Bluetooth dongle. It works with Windows 8.1 for connecting my phone etc.

I installed Motioninjoy as directed. The DS3 Tool shows the Hardware ID for the bluetooth adapter as USB\VID_8087&PID_07DA&REV_7868 which I looked up and saw is Generic Bluetooth.

I have the ASUS USB BT400 driver installed and the Generic Driver for Bluetooth automatically installs as well. I tried the tutorial on added the Hardware ID to the inf file, but that did not help either. I tried just the ASUS BT400 hardware ID, and then the Generic Driver one as well, but each time the DS3 Tool shows the Hardware ID as the generic one above and never as the BT400 ID.

Looking online it seems the other BT211 dongle that is recommended does not work in Win 8.1.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on this? I really want to get the PS Move working so that I can take advantage for motion capture.

I was able to get 4 PS Move controllers to show up in my device manager by plugging them into USB ports. They correctly loaded the motioninjoy drivers. I think it is just the Bluetooth USB that needs to be recognized by motionjoy for all of this work.

No PS Moves show up in ip Recorder for me yet.

I got it to work! I tried the ASUS BT211 on Windows 8, despite online seeing that it was not supported by Win 8, and it worked beautifully. I was able to connect all 4 PS Move controllers via bluetooth and got them working in iPiSoft Recorder.

i just purchased the ASUS BT400; the latest model.
I haven't updated the OS to 8.1, but a pop up just asked me to do this.

the BT211 as you suggested is no longer manufactured I think. the BT400 was like $17. The BT211 is available from 3rd parties for more like $60:(
If I must, I'll try to acquire this model, but is there any hope for this BT400 that I currently have to work with MotionJoy?

I have got BT400 working with Motion in Joy. You should follow the procedure to manually add the support of new devices to MiJ:

• Edit MijXinput.inf to add VID and PID of your dongle
• Enable installing unsigned drivers in Win8
• Manually choose MiJ driver to use with BT adapter device

I should mention my history with this...

I have tried 3 different bluetooth dongles:

1. the BT400 as mentioned which didn't connect (but I will try your solution)
2. I traded the BT400 for a TrendNet TBW-106UB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6833156257) which according to wikipedia connects to MotionJoy....and it does...sorta
3. an OLD Kensington 33348 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834999235). Which worked....again....sorta

Of the 3, the Kensington was the only version that connected to my Move controller. 1 controller only. The moment that I tried to pair a 2nd Move controller with ipistudio recorder, both Move controllers read HID Error 121. So, neither controller works. I can connect only ONE Move controller with the Kensington dongle. With the other models, we've already discussed why the ASUS BT400 model wouldn't work and the TrendNet TBW-106UB did not connect to my Move controller(s) at all.

A moment ago, I updated my OS to Windows 8.1. I'm waiting for the finalization of the OS to complete right now. I'm going to try the TBW and Kensington dongles once more before I give up.
Do you feel good about the ASUS BT400 to help me with all of my problems if I do the VID/PID number addition in the MijXinput.inf file?

Sorry for all of this explanation. It's important that I understand why things aren't working here. The laptop I'm using is without bluetooth installed (obviously). I'd love it if things just worked the way that they should.

Browsing thru old posts (well ... not too old), I owe VMASLOV thanks again. Was wondering if I'd have to send my cheapie BT dongle back (Kinivo BTD-300), but all I needed to do was "Enable installing unsigned drivers in Win8". I knew I wasn't getting the needed prompt shown in the wiki, when I tried to install the drivers, and I was getting a failure ... just didn't know why ... not like the hex failure message was useful, and nothing showed up when I googled it (maybe needed to search motioninjoy forums?) ... anyway, paired a couple move controllers, and will pick up a 3rd shortly, for an upcoming set of captures.

Finally got back to capturing, and discovered that my cheapie BT dongle didn't work with as well as I'd hoped. I could get 2 controllers to show up in the recorder, but ... not consistently, and the next time, I'd be back to a single working.
Based on some of the other posts, I ordered the Trendnet 106ub. It appears to handle 4 Controllers under Windows 8.1, with no problem (don't have any more than that, so can't speak to 5, or 6.

I think 4 controllers is the max for ipi recorder per dongle. If 4 is all you need, great, but if you want more Pair the controllers via motionjoy, do it one dongle at a time and split your move controllers in half per dongle. I have 9 that work, but I'm not sure im going to use the head trackers because I can't get a good enough harness to keep it level, and it messes up the tracking when you apply the motion data. Hands however are a big yes! Good luck with the setup. It took me several trials and errors to learn what's what.

I just got the bt211 and still cant get that to work. Madguru reports getting it to work right away but if you look at the asus support page, there are no drivers for windows 8. I'm curious if anyone else has gotten the bt211 to work and where/how they installed a driver for it?

On Windows 8 and above, there is no need for ASUS drivers for USB-BT211, because you should use Motion in Joy instead of regular Bluetooth drivers.
