Ok, thanks for the info., I will do the same with that link for the tool, as I have 3 machines also, but won't do the one iPi is setup on until I know for sure iPi has

upgraded their end to support it without issue.

I have 2 bootable drives on that machine with Win 7 Ult., but iPi can only run on one at a time and my iPi storage drive is different then the program drive, so it will be a

pain to upgrade them both again to Win 10, I guess have to reload all the programs again, not looking forward to it.

I saw that tool on the website also, I just thought an instant download of an executable would make more sense for those only doing 1 machine, I guess it's not really

released officially yet though,

I meet all the requirements on all the machines, so while free anyone might as well upgrade, as I am sure soon MS will drop support on Win 7.. and 8.1 never was that great,

who knows if 10 will be, just because they say it is :) ... but they control the game.

Yes, I would say burn a disk to recover your old system just in case.

Thx again!

I'm probably going to use this first: http://www.easeus.com/system-go-back/

It will allow you to rollback to your existing OS if something goes wrong or if you change your mind.

Thanks for the link to that G, but Iam not going to upgrade to 10 after thinking, all my programs are for Win 7 and to redo all that, I am not going to do right now.

Just another quick test, used different tracking and processing settings in iPi and used the MoBu skeleton on export, iClone worked better with the Maya IK preset, fingers

transfer now with iPi gestures, the 3ds Max preset when used with iPi's Max skeleton didn't convert as well and their iClone skeleton has no fingers to export gestures.

BVH is straight out of iPi after processed, no editing, and a better resulting animation.

Hard to get an absolutely smooth recording playback, these screen capture recorders are just not that great, the animation is very smooth in iClone though.

Yeah, I'm not in a big rush myself to upgrade my OS yet. For now, the only reason I would upgrade to Windows 10 is for Kinect v2 compatibility and it's not clear if iPi Mocap Studio is compatible yet.

I'm might upgrade the Wacom tablet to 10 sooner because I've heard from a few users that the UI scaling works better in 10 than it did in 8. The one thing holding me back is that I know a couple of programs I use are not 10 compatible yet, so no hurry there either.

Anyway, MS is giving users up to a year from now to take advantage of the free offer, so there's time.

Good tip about the Maya IK rig to iClone export.

We have tested our software on Windows 10 and we consider it to be compatible with the new OS.

Thank you for the info!

I had just updated my portable computer Win 10 but I was hesitating about upgrading my main desktop computer because it has iPi Mocap Studio installed on it. I'm going to be recording a ton of mocap for 'B2' in the coming weeks and I didn't want to break it by upgrading the OS.

I will go ahead with the upgrade then and let you know how it goes.

(Note: For users uncertain about upgrading, I'm using the free EaseUS GoBack program mentioned earlier so I can regress to the previous OS in case something goes wrong. GoBack is more reliable than the native Windows 10 rollback feature because the Microsoft option is only be available for 30 days. while GoBack will continue to function beyond the 30 days.)

I'm going to deactivate iPi Mocap Studio before installing Windows 10 just to be safe but I was wondering if you thought that is really necessary. If so, you may want to alert users to this.

Seems they are delivering reserved Win 10 now and I have friends that downloaded it and there Win 7 programs seem to be working, (i.e. 3ds Max and Photoshop), I will try on one of my other machines first, with the USB download above, and set up the recovery soft first.

Thx for the compatability reply Maslov!

The main thing I'm finding is that if you have software that needs to be deactivated before you move it, you must do this before upgrading to Win 10 because there is a good chance that the software will think it's on a different computer and no longer recognize the license.

I deactivated most of my software like that but missed Final Draft and Magpie Pro and, sure enough, the licenses broke. Had to contact support for each...hopefully, I'll be up and running with these programs soon.

I don't know if the same is true with iPi Mocap Studio (I did remember to deactivate this program,) but it's better to play it safe--you can reactivate it after the Windows 10 upgrade completes.

Thanks, good to know, I don't recall the ones I know saying they did that for any programs they had, but I will look into it before I actually upgrade.

I downloaded it to USB for the main machine, which has Win 7 Ultimate on it last night, and ran the backup program successfully.

Probably just do it again and save to USB for the other machines, 1-running Win 7 Home and 1-Win 8.1 Home, which is a different Win 10 download, so product keys will match.

Thx again for that warning!

Yeah, I don't know all of which programs that need deactivation this but I first heard about the issue from a ZBrush user.

To be safe, the programs I deactivated were ZBrush, Anime Studio Pro 10 and 11, Adobe Creative Suite Premium (pre-CC), 3D Coat (probably not necessary since you can install in multiple computers anyway,) Final Draft (on my tablet anyway,) and of course iPi Mocap Studio.

Some node locked programs couldn't be deactivated but they seem to be okay after the upgrade. For example, Butterfly Net Render 6, SynthEyes, Vegas Pro and Motion Builder seem to be okay.

The program licenses that broke for me were Final Draft (on my workstation,) and Magpie Pro on my workstation and tablet. For some reason, the deactivation system for Magpie was broken on both computers (selecting it crashed Magpie) so it wasn't going to work anyway, but the developer is pretty responsive and I should be up and running again with Magpie in a day or two.

I was warned by the developer of CANCANi, a 2D animation program I run on the tablet, that it wasn't compatible with Windows 10 yet. I didn't need the program immediately and knew an update would be coming eventually, so I deactivated the program and moved forward with the Win 10 upgrade anyway.

So far, everything else seems to be running fine under Windows 10.

I'm going to try recording with iPi Mocap Studio tonight--I imagine it will run as well as it did under Windows 7.
