Just a report from my (limited) testing of the new recording/studio update.

With my dual Kinect 2's it works MUCH better - locates the figure and places it almost perfectly with no work on my part. It even tries to break things into "takes" (this last is one I wish there was a "turn off" feature for, since there are times it saw "takes" just because I stretched my arms out). It also seems to find the feet and make *zero* mistakes in tracking (with three long tests I had to do zero tweaking -- just let it run and then smoothed out the results).

Speaking of setting things on and off, does anyone else wish there were a way to save default settings? I can't tell you how many times I've had to retrack because "Track head" was turned off (I would like it *always* on by default). Same for last height -- since it's (so far) always me I wish it would just default to whatever I set it at last (I know I can load in some settings but it would just be so much easier not to have to worry about it).

I would agree with the default ON for the head tracking, as head tracking MUST be on for the spine to react correctly for humanoid motions, but you already have to adjust other parameters each time on that same window, so clicking the head track button isn't that bad, just don't forget to.

I would probably think it would be much harder for iPi to add into the coding the ability to default save last used actor with all it's tracking parameters as default, they would have to answer that, but there is a SAVE Actor button and LOAD Actor button that makes this pretty simple to re-load a default actor size parameters file or many different ones for different performer types.

The Kinect auto-take adding feature does seem a bit of over-kill, just seems, by what you stated, would probably cause the need to delete takes when not needed and extend another, when it's easy to just add and adjust takes when needed.

I don't use the Kinect v2 for several reasons, but many do like them and I am glad you seem to be getting the results you want.

It would be interesting to see a screen recording of your recent tests, upload to YouTube or other server as unlisted if you like, and post the link in the forum, it's always nice to see users tests and works.

If you mean posting the results of the BVH file, sure (there's no way I'm going to post a video of ME on the web -- I'm old and most of the time doing these tests I'm stripped to my underwear because the shirt and pants I wear around the house are just too loose and floppy to give good results).

I'm still playing with various ideas on how I want to use mocap stuff but I'll soon have some fairly comprehensive animations up and available (they will be public but no problem posting links to them here).

Yes, just like the ones in the Videos Index, if you want, no skivvies please :)

Just gives new or potential users an idea of what things look like inside iPi Recorder and Studio and with previz of any biped characters.

Especially since this new update to Recorder and Studio for Kv2.

When you do get to the export to supported external programs, post brief videos of those also, if you want.
