Hi guys,

Newbie here. On importing a DMX skeleton from SFM, the target character rig appears sideways- the bones can be mapped, but they do not realign, resulting in a crab like motion. Is there anything I can do within ipisoft studio to fix this?

Hi
Usually, rigs of SFM characters are mapped automatically, because they use standard Valve bones naming.
Do you mean that imported character's bones do not follow rotations of iPi skeleton even though they are mapped properly?
Could you upload your character DMX here or email to our tech support address?

Hi- yes, that's exactly it. I've just emailed the DMX to tech support address.

You've got an answer by email. I duplicate it here for other users:

The character is rotated into a somewhat unusual orientation, this causes the problem.
Current version of our software cannot rotate coordinate system for imported characters.

We are actively working on new version to solve this problem. I just checked and your test character worked fine in development build of our software. The new version will be released very soon now.

Right now the workaround for your character is to rotate the character into proper orientation using some other software like 3D MAX or Maya or similar.

Controls for adjusting of character's orientation are available in v3.5.0.214.
