well even with the dual camera program crashing all the time I managed to capture some video using another software but just from 1 camera, I have to say that so far the results are very very good, and i would really like to see what 2 cameras have to offer.

I would make a recomendation, since there are so many types of cameras right now, that could allow you to record in different settings/environments.

it would be very nice to have a multiplexer software, to get an output of different cameras, for instance:

I can record the same video with my 2 digital photo cams, with my 3 webcams, and from a DV source.

that means that I could have 5 video feeds at once, however, the 2 digital photo cameras, I would have to download the video and then upload it to the PC now if there was a multiplexer ( I know maybe the coordination would be somewhat hard, but that's up to the person that manages the video )

anyhow with a multiplexer I could just grab the different inputs, sync them, then join them on a video that IPI studio would use, and then convert them

since the software is not real time, this would be a superb way of going out with lets say a few cameras, a few tripods, some memory sticks or DVD-R to any location, place them record as much as you like, and then move it to the PC.

( still I insist coordination would not be easy but that's what time markers are for )

What resolution and framerate are you using for two-camera video?

I recommend 320x240 at 30 frames per second.

iPi Recorder may crash at higher resolution because you do not have enough CPU power.

Actually both cameras do have 320x240 @ 30FPS, separate they work fine, I have a ram monitor and I am working with 1.3GB free of ram, and the CPU is dual, and the load is like 5%, so the system is performing fine.

However IPI recorder crashes on start, I have not even seen the screen, I just try to open it and then it crashes, the other programs work fine IPI Studio and the calibration tool, just the recorder gives issues.

What cameras do you use?

I am using a Intel WebCam, and an Genius Camera ( logitech ) they both work fine, on other software that uses DirectShow to capture, but even without cameras the IPI record software crashes on start.

SOLVED:

Ok I found the error, recently I had installed google Video for some tests, however, it installs it's own "cameras" as directshow inputs, they are somewhat buggy and crash on site, so the program crashed whenever I tried to open it, I removed the google video cameras and it worked fine. ( the capture at least )
